Gal Gadot’s time as Wonder Woman appears to be over as DC Studios moves forward with its rebooted cinematic universe. Gadot played Diana Prince across several DC films, beginning with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and later leading Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984. However, the character is now expected to be recast for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe.

That transition has put Adria Arjona at the center of fan speculation. The actress has been linked to the role online, although there is still no official confirmation that she will become the next Diana Prince.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Journey Comes to an End

Gadot’s portrayal of Wonder Woman became one of the defining elements of the previous DC film universe. Her first major appearance as Diana came in Batman v Superman, followed by Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman in 2017.

The movie became a major commercial and cultural success and established Gadot as the face of the character for a new generation. She returned for Wonder Woman 1984 and later appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Gadot also publicly celebrated the finale of production on the first Wonder Woman. In 2016, she wrote that filming had been an “amazing, exciting, dreamy, happy and fascinating experience” that she would cherish.

Her version of Diana ultimately concluded as DC prepared to rebuild its cinematic universe under new leadership.

Why Adria Arjona Is Being Linked to Wonder Woman

Arjona became a major topic among DC fans after she was confirmed to appear in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow. Her exact role has remained undisclosed, which has fueled theories about her potentially playing Wonder Woman.

The speculation became even stronger after Arjona was questioned about the rumors at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Rather than directly confirming or denying the reports, she jokingly walked away from the interview before returning.

That playful response naturally gave fans more reason to speculate, but it should not be treated as confirmation.

James Gunn Has Not Confirmed Arjona as Diana

Despite the growing rumors, James Gunn has previously stated that Adria Arjona has not been officially cast as Wonder Woman. Gunn explained that he has known Arjona since working with her on The Belko Experiment and pushed back against speculation surrounding his social-media activity.

He also acknowledged that Arjona would make a good Wonder Woman, while making clear that no casting decision had been made at the time.

This distinction remains important. Arjona is confirmed for Man of Tomorrow, but her character has not been publicly identified as Wonder Woman.
