BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has reportedly joined a new agency, and has made the official announcement on his instragam yesterday on 21st December, 2023. The company is called Galaxy Corporation, and G-Dragon will have new plans for his comeback with them.
This announcement was made in an emergency press conference held in the JW Mariott Hotel in Korea at 10:00 AM (KST). Along with Kwon Ji Yong aka G-Dragon joining the Corporation on an exclusive contract, his recent drug case was also addressed in the conference.
G-Dragon, who’s considered to be a first gen idol and also nicknamed the King of K-pop had just been cleared of his substance abuse allegations. The case had taken a toll on his career, when it came to light around October this year.
His previous company, YG Entertainment too had cut him off after he was being accused of using drugs drugs. Earlier this month, G-Dragon was finally cleared of any allegations and was let go with the investigation closing.
Initially, G-Dragon was supposed to present in front of his fans and address the situation. However, due to the immense confusion and reports regarding his case, he decided to not come and instead, the Director of Galaxy Corporation spoke on his behalf.
The press conference talked about G-Dragon leaving YG Entertainment with no bitterness from both parties, and finally being able to joing Galaxy Corporation. His plans for the future were also shared.
What happened in the Press Conference?
Despite G-Dragon not physically being present in the press conference, his handwritten letter to his fans was read by the Director of Galaxy Corporation, Jo Sung Hae He also announced that the company and G-Dragon were now in an exclusive contract with each other.
Sung Hae also made it clear that the relationship shared between the two wasn’t merely that of an artist and an agency, but rather one of partnership and companion, where they worked hand in hand.
The Director of Galaxy Corporation also mentions taking up challenges that have quote, “never been done and could not be done in the world”. To prove this, the company promises to show sides of G-Dragon that have not yet been revealed to the public eye.
Furthermore, they also announced G-Dragon launching his own foundation that would help build the future of distressed and lost youths, who have turned to substance abuse as their source of comfort.
He had endured much hate as well as criticism from the public despite being an innocent. The company requested to no longer associated G-Dragon with the drug case and free him from the accusations to lead a normal life.
After having gone through the trials and investigations of his drug case. G-Dragon was made aware of the foreboding drug problem in Korean youths, which made him take the initiative to cater to the troubled kids and guide them to the right path.
By the end of the speech, Galaxy Corportation extends its gratitude to YG Entertainment, G-Dragon’s former agency. Stating, “Thanks to YG, the Kwon Ji Yong of today exists. Galaxy will do our best to continue the path of glory that YG and G-Dragon have walked without forgetting.”
When will G-Dragon make his comeback?
Ever since his arrest in October, G-Dragon had not yet made a comeback. He also mentioned in the letter he wrote that he was going through a difficult time, but due to the support of the fans, was able to overcome and get back on track.
Director Sung Hae announced that G-Dragon will be making his comeback in the year 2024. Fans are expecting new and exciting music from the King of K-pop after having his name cleared.
G-Dragon also mentioned in his letter that he wanted to start anew with the year 2024, and that the experiences he had in 2023 will make him work and strive harder for the future.
Netizens have expressed their excitement for his comeback. Many of them are also expecting a BIGBANG comeback in 2024 as the other two members, YB and Daesung too were more active in their solo careers.
