Disney is preparing to bring audiences back to Arendelle with Frozen 3, the highly anticipated third theatrical installment in the blockbuster animated franchise. The sequel has now received a firm release date, while Disney has also revealed more about its plans for the movie and the wider Frozen franchise.

The new film is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters on November 24, 2027, placing it directly in the Thanksgiving holiday frame. Disney confirmed the date as part of its latest entertainment announcements.

When Will Frozen 3 Be Released?

Frozen 3 will premiere in theaters on November 24, 2027. The movie is being directed by Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy, with Christina Chen serving as producer. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and the returning cast are expected to bring the central characters back for another chapter.

The release also gives Disney an unusual animated lineup in 2027. Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled for February, The New Simpsons Movie for September, and Frozen 3 for November.

All three are sequels or follow-ups to established animated properties.

Frozen 3 Will Continue a Much Bigger Story

The upcoming movie is not being developed as an isolated sequel. According to The Direct’s report, Disney is treating Frozen 3 as the first part of a two-part storyline, with Frozen 4 expected to complete the larger narrative.

That approach could make the third movie considerably more ambitious than its predecessors. Jennifer Lee previously hinted at the scale of the story during an interview with The Walt Disney Company, saying the creative team was working on something “so epic it may not fit into just one film.”

Disney’s official 2024 investor material also listed both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 as projects in development.

Disney Is Planning a Major Frozen 3 Marketing Push

Fans will not have to wait until 2027 for new Frozen content. In an interview with License Global [source], Disney Consumer Products executive Paul Gitter confirmed that a new Frozen short is planned for October 2026.

Gitter said, “We’re excited to kick off the countdown to ‘Frozen 3’ with a new short this October, ahead of our biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027.”

Disney is also expanding the franchise through merchandise, fan events, and experiences. Its World of Frozen attractions are part of that wider strategy, while collaborations such as Disney’s partnership with Pandora are designed to reach longtime fans who have grown up with the franchise.
