‘From Dream To Freedom’ manga follows the story of a high schooler Choi Jungmin. She had a pretty decent life up until middle school, but as she entered high school, things changed for her; her childhood best friend had become her bulky, and her only solace was lucid dreams that haunted Ha Joohyun in a dream that none could disturb.

She hated school and always got bullied. She had become a laughingstock stock. But life wasn’t always like this for her. In elementary school, Jungmin and Joohyun were best friends. Even tho other kids thought Joohyun was weird, Jungmin initiated the friendship, and soon they became beasties.

Later into their friendship, as Joohyun got more comfortable with Jungmin, Jungmin realized what the other kids said about Joohyun was all true, and she had this weird personality. Li was trying to show her power over others. Jungmin, too was scared of her but never had the courage to confront her.

Jungmin took her other classmates’ help; she told them all the truth about how Joohyun had been controlling her life and that she didn’t know what to do. Her classmates took her side and confronted Joohyun, after which their friendship came to an end.

Jungmin was worried Joohyun would do something for revenge, but to her surprise, she never did. Jungmin’s middle school was also decent, but by the time she entered high school, Joohyun had become one of the students who couldn’t be ignored.

And thereafter, things went haywire, and Jungmin’s hell-like life started. She never understood why she was treated that way. The only place where she felt relief was her lucid dreams, where she would exchange places with Joohyun and do the things she had been doing to her.

In her dreams, she would be the bully doing all the nasty things Joohyun had been doing with her. Teasing her about her appearance, making fun of her in front of the whole class, and even threatening her. Jungmin was the boss in her dreams.

In Chapter 89 of From Dreams to Freedom, we see Sihyun wakes up in the morning and gets scared when he isn’t able to find Jungmin beside him. He runs over, searching everywhere, and hugs her tight when he finds her.

After which Jungmin leaves for school. It was a nice winter morning. When all the kids were worried about when winter breaks were going to start, Jungmin, on the other hand, was worried about why she wasn’t able to contact her boyfriend.

It wasn’t the first time it had happened, and always wondered if she did anything wrong to upset him. The strange thing was whenever that happened, Sibyun would come 30mins before her school ended to pick her up.

She didn’t hate it, but it was always at the back of her mind what Sihyun was up to. While heading home, she asks Sihyun if his hand is feeling better, to which he replies that he likes it when she gets worried about him and shows care, which reminds her of the incident.

Jungmin, out of the blue, asks Sihyun about Kang Nahyuk. Sihyun brushes it off by telling her he doesn’t know anything about it and that he hasn’t seen him around these days.

Kang Nahyuk, on the other hand, had locked himself up in a room and didn’t have food or water, and lived in a constant state of fear. Even tho he always stayed in his room, somehow, he was getting bruises and injuries.
