The German singer and music producer, renowned for his hits “Rasputin” and “Daddy Cool,” passed away peacefully in his apartment in Miami, Florida.
Farian, known for collaborating with music icons such as Stevie Wonder and Meat Loaf, had a prolific career spanning decades. The producer, also the founder of the legendary 80s R&B band Milli Vanilli, achieved sales of over 800 million records.
Unfortunately, Farian’s health had significantly deteriorated, leading to heart surgery in 2022, where he received a pig heart valve. In his final interview with German newspaper Bild in November, the musician detailed how the operation played a crucial role in saving his life.
In a positive update, Farian shared, “My heart valve works wonderfully. Mick Jagger also received the same heart valve. I have a good pig in me! And I’m very grateful for that.”
However, Bild reported a deterioration in Farian’s condition post-procedure. He experienced significant weight loss and eventually relied on a wheelchair and breathing equipment due to lung issues.
Farian faced challenges in speaking and experienced physical weakness. His closest friend and ex-partner, Ingrid “Milli” Segieth, 69, visited him in Miami during the New Year.
Despite his frailty, when they departed for Germany a few days ago, he was described as being “physically very weak but still full of energy” by Segieth in an interview with Bild.
“He was still sitting in the recording studio all day, working on new music,” shared Ingrid “Milli” Segieth, highlighting Farian’s dedication to his craft despite his physical challenges.
