The Founding Titan and its incredible powers have always been a huge mystery for the Attack on Titan fans. You can guess how clueless we are from the fact it’s already the final season of the series, and we haven’t witnessed the enormous creature yet, apart from some ancient illustrations that were found in Marleyan history books. However, please don’t get upset; being a manga reader, I can assure you that the infamous creature will soon make its appearance on the anime silver screens.
But before that happens, we must learn more about its powers since Part 2 of Final Season won’t be wasting much time explaining all its powers to us. Moreover, the story of the first-ever titan has always been an interesting topic of discussion among the fans, and I am guessing that this article will help you a lot in the neverending debates that will break out when the Founding Titan shows up.

Abilities of the Founding Titan
It’s no secret that the Founding Titan is the strongest of all nine legendary titans, and it can easily bring an end to the entire humanity with the powers it possesses. Thank god it requires royal blood to be activated; otherwise, who knows what would have happened if those powers fell into the wrong hands. Apart from complete authority over the Eldian race, both in their titan and human form, it can do a lot of other scary things. Here are all the abilities that Founding Titan holds.
Memory Manipulation
Ever thought why the people living within the walls had no clue about the existence of a world outside the walls? They are completely unaware of anything and everything that existed before the walls, and neither are these details scripted anywhere. This is because Karl Fritz used the power of the Founding Titan to make every Eldian inside the Paradis island forget the history of the world before the Walls’ formation.
The same ability was also used by Frieda to make Historia forget about her visits. However, these lost memories tend to come back in the forms of dreams in bits and pieces. Only the Ackerman clan and the non Eldians are immune to this technique, and maybe that’s the reason why the royal bloodline feared the Ackermans so much.
Anatomical manipulation
The Founding Titan has the power to make any anatomical change to the bodies of the subjects of Ymir. For example, once upon a time, when Eldia was hit by a grave epidemic, the King used this power to make everyone immune to that certain disease. This is also the ability around which Zeke’s plan of euthanization revolves.
Zeke wanted to use the power of the Founding Titan to take away every Eldian’s ability to give birth. This way, no more children will be born with the curse of titans in their blood, thereby bringing an end to the endless cycle of hatred. I still believe that Zeke’s plan was far more justifiable than that of Eren, who is ready to fight a war against the world to save Paradis.
Titan Creation
The Founding Titan can transform any Eldian into Titan, and unlike the Beast Titan, it doesn’t require its spinal fluid to accomplish this insane task. Furthermore, the Founding Titans can turn the Eldians into as big as the Colossal Titan, and who knows, it could have the ability to raise an army of any other legendary titan too but never got the necessity to do so.
In the final chapters of Attack on Titan, Eren is seen reviving the previous legendary titans who used to exist. He manipulated them to stop Armin and his army before its too late. This shows how versatile the powers of Founding Titan are and how little we know about them.
Titan Control
The Founding Titan has the ability to control the pure titans according to its will. Eren unleashed this ability when he ordered all the titans to turn up against Diana Fritz’s titan. Although the eight other legendary titans are said to be immune from this, they can certainly feel its influence. Thanks to this ability, Karl Fritz could order an army of Colossal Titans to form the walls around the island, thereby protecting it from outside threats.
Telepathic communication and Clayvoirance
The Founding Titan can telepathically connect will all the subjects of Ymir, no matter how far they are. It can talk with every Eldian whenever it wants to and see or experience everything that the Eldians are going through. Moreover, the Founding Titan can access time in a nonlinear way, i.e., it can access past, present, and future at the same time. Many are in the opinion that it’s the Attack Titan’s ability, but I think that the foreseeing powers reach a whole new dimension when you inherit the Founding Titan.
Final Thoughts
No matter how awesome the powers of Founding Titan may look, it comes with a fair share of drawbacks. Just like any other legendary titans, you will have 13 more years to live once you inherit it. If that’s not bad enough, there’s more to it; you will be rendered into a slave of the royal bloodline, thereby renouncing any war in the future. It’s more like a curse that imprisons your free will and enforces Karl Fritz’s ideologies on the inheriter.
Be it, Grisha Yeager or Frieda Riess, fate has never been nice to anyone who inherited these godly powers. All of them died in the most gruesome way possible, and I wonder if Eren will follow the same convention at the end of Attack on Titan: Final Season.
