Florida Man starts with an ex-cop who is a recovering gambler and works under a kingpin named Moss Yankov. He is working for him to pay back his debt and one day when Moss and his girlfriend have a fallout on their anniversary, Moss appoints Mike to get her back home safely. Instead, they go to a bar and Mike falls over himself for her beauty. He always talked about how he always wanted to go back to Florida, his hometown.
Suddenly one day Moss’s girlfriend, Delly leads him and the gangster suspects that she is in Florida. Mike hesitantly takes the job to bring her back, and upon reaching his hometown, he reunites with his family. All this while he keeps on remembering the day he found a gold coin inside a fish which he thinks is a part of the treasure. Mike’s father Sonny is the retired police chief, so he gets sufficient help to locate her.
While looking for Delly, he keeps on remembering the moments he shared with her, and one day he finally spots her. When he follows her trail, he discovers her shot-dead body inside a cottage, and with the help of a reporter, he finds the ambulance footage that suggests that there was no dead body in it in the first place.
Mike also finds out that the place was cleaned up after the job, suggesting that it was a professional job. When Mike accuses Moss of killing his girlfriend, he finds her alive waiting for him in his motel room.
Delly And Mike Teams Up
Then it is revealed to us that Delly found out Mike was on her trail, so she orchestrated a fake murder scenario to throw him off. She planned it all out with a paramedic to create a crime scene, but when she was leaving with him inside an ambulance, a police car driven by a small-time criminal, crashed with them and her brilliant plan came to a halt.
Delly and Mike then collaborate together to find the treasure that Mike always thinks about and tries to find. He tells the gangster that Delly is dead, but he will stay in Florida till he finds out who did it to her.
In the meantime, the inquiry into Gilbert Franco’s death has been taken on by Iris, Mike’s ex-wife, and she thinks that if she doesn’t intervene to help Mike, he will be caught in the crossfire between the police and Moss.
Moss, on the other hand, is preparing for a eulogy. But it seems he is missing an important item that Delly took from him. Meanwhile, Delly goes back to the accident site and retrieves the USB. All the while, a cop who came to Florida to spend time with his family is in constant search for a gun. He receives a gun from a smuggler kid, but as it was used at the crime scene of a homicide, he gets arrested. And things get even more critical for him as other criminals come to know that he is a cop.
The Day Of The Job
Delly meets with Mike’s Father Sonny and secretly teams up with him Mike finds out that the gold is inside the truck that is currently inside the sinkhole that is about to be filled up pretty soon. His brother-in-law is working near the construction site, and Mike finds out every damn detail about the place.
Moss is still looking for the USB drive and employs Mike to find it. Iris on the other hand sneaks into Delly’s memorial and finds out that Mike was sent to Florida behind Delly. So she decides to get there and arrest him.
After learning about his father’s involvement, Mike and Delly have a fight and they start to recruit people for the job. We also get to see that Delly has a secret collaborator, but his identity will be revealed later.
One of the main attractions of the ensemble is a guy named Buzz who got electrocuted on the job and has been acting weird ever since. On the day of the job, Delly handles the guard posing as a young girl trying to commit suicide, and then suddenly to all of their surprise, instead of doing his job, Stefan the crane man’s body comes down into the water with a deadly wound on his forehead.
When Stephen learns about the gold, he feels duped because he only received major compensation for retrieving the truck. Unfortunately, he is shot during his confrontation with Buzz and sinks into the water.
While Mike brings the cleaning lady from the motel to clean up the mess, Delly takes care of the situation by directing the police’s attention to the child trafficker, Eric from the church. And in the meantime, Moss assigns Dutch, a man who works for his father to pursue Mike.
Mike And Dutch
The next day Delly answers the door when Dutch knocks at Mike’s motel room and she remembers watching him with Moss, so she gets scared. Dutch eventually looks at Mike to pursue her.
Upon reaching Florida, Iris resolves to utilize Patsy, Mike’s sister, to find out more information about Mike’s plans. But Patsy recognizes the trap, she doesn’t divulge any information and alerts Mike about her arrival.
In the meantime, Iris notices Mike and Delly while reviewing the doc CCTV footage. Dutch is finally confronted by Mike and instead of killing one another, Mike is able to reach an agreement with him for $5000. He entices him into it by using their shared disdain for Moss.
By that time, Sonny had dispatched Ray-Ray to look after Dutch. In order to save Dutch from being killed, Mike confines him inside the portable toilet. But Dutch lights his lighter and the toilet burst into pieces. I had no idea prior to the series that methane was this much combustible.
Moss is going to Florida right now to look for Mike. However, when Iris encounters Delly, she takes a picture of her to use as a form of blackmail. Delly offers to reveal information from Moss’ USB key that might be of use to her.
When Delly returns to her home, she recognizes the family ascent that is usually associated with most. But when she tries to look for the USB drive, she is unable to find it, as Clara took it while cleaning the house.
Florida Man Ending Explained
When Moss conference Delly, she tries to convince most that she did it to get the gold. And when Mike is about to enter the room, Iris comes to his rescue and makes Mike overhear the conversation between Delly and Moss. Iris manages to record Moss’s confession about killing Gil and Moss promises that he will help her with more.
Mike and Sonny planned to send Moss to Gil’s boat where Ray-Ray and Buzz will be ready to take them down. Mike unwillingly invites Moss and Delly to his sister, Patsy’s home for dinner. And after the dinner, as Moss and Delly drive their car towards Gil’s boat, Mike follows them to get a confession for Iris.
Though he throws her off his tail by throwing away the tracker, Iris gets to the spot when the Dockmaster calls her and gets shot by Ray-Ray. But she manages to take him down too. Mike, on the other hand, gets arrested by the calls along with his father, as the department suspects them of dealing drugs and killing Dutch.
Mike Gets The Gold
Moss and Delly bail Mike out and force them to take them to the location where the huge amount of gold is hidden. Mike manages to pull the truck out of the sinkhole all by himself, but to their surprise, the truck is completely empty.
Seeing this Moss tries to kill him, but after a long struggle, Delly shoots him down. And the gun Deputy John Ketcher from whom Mike stole the gun, comes to retrieval. All he cares about is the gun and nothing else. He even helps Mike and then he gets rid of Moss’s body and sinks the truck where it was in the first place. Then Mike and Delly go their separate ways as Mike chooses to stay with Iris.
The next day, the sinkhole gets filled by the government and after a few days, I rejoined the FBI with Moss’ sister’s help. Mike is now managing his father’s bar and after getting the news of Buzz’s death, he goes to visit him in jail. He learns that Sonny and company extracted the gold the very day Durch got killed and Sonny is unwilling to share its location with his son. This incident creates yet another huge gap between the father and the son.
After coming back from jail, Mike goes to find his father’s missing boat and finds the gold. To his surprise, Delly comes from behind and asks Mike if he came for her or the gold, and before Mike could answer her, the scene cuts to black.
