Ever heard of a convict trying to turn his life around to redeem his past deeds? This story represents their struggles. The series’ plot centers around a young convict Bode Donovan, who has a troubled past. Bode volunteers for the California Conservation Camp Program to redeem himself and get his prison sentence shortened.
The prisoners assist in the Cal Fire program. Bode has to face and assist his former friends, other inmates, and elite firefighters in putting off the fires that plague their regions when he is assigned to his hometown in Northern California.
The series begins with the pilot episode, where Bode is convicted and is serving time for attempted robbery. Max is encouraged to join the program by his law after Bode loses his latest parole. The episode ends with Sharon realizing Bode saved the lives of Jake and Eve.
Fire Country Episode 17 – Recap
The 17th episode, titled “A Cry For Help,” which premiered on March 31, 2023, follows the revelation of the real arsonist in the series. The episode begins with Sharon informing Jake of being the suspect in starting the fire at Drake County, as everyone except him was at Station 42.
Sharon also suggests Jake maybe is the arsonist Assistant Chief Erika Snow is looking for. Jake is struggling to deal with his secrets and indirectly asks Vince for a suggestion to handle his secrets. Vince overhears Sharon and Manny having a conversation, where she informs him of Erika, who is pursuing the serial arsonist.
Jake is Ericka’s prime suspect, as he set a fire as a child in his home. Erika arrives at Station 42 and informs the members about the arsonist being one of them. She also tells the team they must notice any uncanny behavior by their members.
All the fires, including the Wallace Development Fire, Hill Fire, and the Drake County Fire, are the job done by the arsonist. Sharon confronts Jake in front of everyone after Erika leaves about his visit to Drake County. Jake is heartbroken by the confrontation as he feels his team members don’t trust him.
During the conflict, the alarm in the station goes off, and Station 42 receives two calls simultaneously about a fire in the commercial lodge. Vince indirectly benches Jake by giving him a medical duty. Danny Colin comes rushing to the location of the fire, even though he was off duty for the day. Back at the station, Sharon and Erika discuss the list of firefighters off duty.
The list Sharon handed Erika didn’t explain Jake’s absence. Body and Jake talk with each other, and Jake informs him he doesn’t know how Erika knows about his childhood incident. He also reveals to Body how the only other person who knew about the fire was Colin, a fellow firefighter. At the same time, Gabriela is trying to safely evacuate Daniel after he freezes after hearing a gunshot in the distance.
Erika shows Sharon the proof that the arsonist left behind as his thumbprint was left behind on the drip torch. It is revealed that Colin is the real arsonist. He is an imposter, as Kirk didn’t have a son. The episode ends somberly, with Jake being hurt as the team doesn’t believe him.
