Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is shaping up to deliver an emotional conclusion to Square Enix’s remake trilogy, according to new comments from Cloud Strife voice actor Cody Christian. Speaking during San Antonio Kawacon, Christian assured fans that the third installment will offer a powerful emotional payoff, suggesting even longtime players should prepare for an unforgettable ending.
The remarks, first reported by GamesRadar and echoed by earlier comments from game director Naoki Hamaguchi, reinforce expectations that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will focus heavily on Cloud’s personal journey while bringing the remake trilogy to its conclusion.
Cody Christian promises an emotional payoff
During a fan Q&A at San Antonio Kawacon, Christian was asked what players should expect from the final chapter of the trilogy. Without revealing spoilers, he highlighted the emotional weight of the game’s story.
“There’s so much emotionality, there’s so much vulnerability… There are moments in this that if you haven’t cried in the first two yet, I guarantee you’ll be sobbing in this third one… It’s a payoff.”
Christian’s comments suggest Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will build upon the bittersweet ending of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, bringing years of character development to a dramatic conclusion.
Christian is not the only member of the development team to describe the game’s ending as emotional. Shortly after Final Fantasy 7 Revelation was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed the story in an interview with Brazilian outlet Omelete.
Hamaguchi revealed that he has completed the game’s main story around 40 times during development, yet one particular sequence still makes him emotional every time.

While avoiding story spoilers, he explained that the scene is “essential to the story of Final Fantasy 7” and centers on Cloud Strife confronting his own identity through a deeply introspective moment.
Those comments align closely with Christian’s description of the game’s emotional themes, suggesting Cloud’s personal growth will remain the emotional core of the trilogy’s finale.
More than just an ending?
Although Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has been positioned as the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, recent speculation suggests the story may not end entirely with the credits.
A recently spotted Epic Games Store sandbox listing, shared by members of the GamingLeaksAndRumours community on Reddit, reportedly referenced a possible “Story Expansion Pass.” Square Enix has not confirmed the listing or announced any post-launch story DLC, so fans should treat the information as speculation until officially verified.
For now, Square Enix appears focused on delivering an emotional conclusion that honors one of gaming’s most beloved stories. If both Cody Christian and Naoki Hamaguchi’s comments are any indication, players can expect Final Fantasy 7 Revelation to prioritize character-driven storytelling as Cloud Strife’s journey reaches its long-awaited finale.
