FX’s dark comedy, Fargo, seems to take yet another plot point from the main film for its episodes. With the sheriff secretly wanting his wife to be kidnapped and Dorothy somehow escaping it unscathed, there’s going to be a messy confrontation happening in the next few episodes.
Fargo is an American drama series that mixes both dark comedy and crime to create a series of stories inspired by the iconic 1996 film that goes by the same name. While the TV show Fargo takes place in the same universe as the film, it only uses the latter’s plot to create entertaining stories.
The latest 5th season revolves around characters from North Dakota and Minnesota living in the year 2019. All we’ve seen up until now is Dorothy, Roy Tillman’s wife, trying to escape from him and live her new life in the city peacefully. Roy, on the other hand, is willing to do anything to get Dorothy to repay her “debt”.
The cast members for Fargo’s newest season include Juno Temple in the role of Dorothy, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lorraine, David Ryshdahl plays Wayne, Sam Spruell plays Ole Munch, and Jon Hamm as Roy. Richa Moorjani, known for her role from Never Have I Ever and Joe Keery from Stranger Things play the roles of Indira and Gator respectively.
Recap
As usual, the episode begins with the “This is a true story” text, followed by Roy Tillman’s dialogues as he speaks to a couple. The wife is living with her husband despite facing domestic violence, so Roy teaches the man a lesson and threatens to harm him if he doesn’t change his ways.
Roy then meets up with Ole Munch, who reveals that the kidnapping has failed. As they speak, Roy reveals that his goal was to kidnap his wife who had abandoned her marital duties and was on the run. Hoping he could collect his accrued debt from her, Roy asks Ole Munch to look for her once again.
Meanwhile in the city, Indira Olmstead, a police officer, questions Dorothy and her husband about the recent crime that took place right at their doorstep. Indira reveals that there was blood and glass all over the house, and the weirdest thing was the fact that neither the blood nor the hair sample matched any of the residents.
This poorly supports Dot’s explanation, in which she says she was having a bad day and ended up stepping on some glass. Olmstead leaves and the scene shifts to Lorraine, who thinks the recent events happening with Dot were much too suspicious.
She shows up at Dorothy’s house only to be threatened by her to not interfere in her or her son’s life. Lorraine believes that Dot wanted to go with extortion or some other similar plan to take away some money for herself.
Dot’s husband is threatened at work by Wayne, who wants him to leave Dot since they believe she is involved in something much darker. Dorothy later installs a security system in her house with the help of Scotty.

Spoilers
Episode 3 will likely revolve around Dot and the rest of the characters as they try to find her location and get her to come back to their town. While the Sheriff certainly has his rules and wants everyone to abide by them, his own wife seems to be the biggest rulebreaker.
Lorraine and Wayne know that Dorothy’s not a person who has a clean slate, and even Olmstead is actively investigating her. Dorothy’s got everyone chasing after her, and seeing the way she talked to Lorraine about her family, it’s unlikely that she will be giving up her wholesome little life with her husband and Scotty so easily.
