After the Fairy Tail manga ended last year, fans were wondering where the creator would go next. After all, he did announce his plans to start a new manga sometime in 2018. Yesterday, we got news from Hiro Mashima’s Twitter that his new manga would begin serialization this year in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine’s 30th issue, with is going to ship on June 27 2018.
As far we know, the series will feature completely new work, different from Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail also have something to be excited about. Hiro Mashima also announced that a Fairy Tail spin-off manga is on its way, and that he’s working on it. As far as his new work is concerned, he said that it would indeed be a ‘fantasy’ manga, but that it’s going to be a new form of fantasy. He also said that Plue would make an appearance in the upcoming new manga.
“Finally I start new series on Weekly Shonen Magazine No.30 (June 27 on sale) !!— 真島ヒロ (@hiro_mashima)

We don’t know how much the new manga will relate to original Fairy Tail manga, but there will be a minor connection at the very least. Fairy Tail’s anime is also getting its final series this year, as confirmed by Hiro Mashima on his Twitter account yesterday.
“The final season of FAIRY TAIL TV animation series will go on air from fall 2018!— 真島ヒロ (@hiro_mashima)
April 5, 2018”
My Anime List describes the Fairy Tail manga as:
“In the mystical realm of Earth Land, magic exists at the core of everyday life for its inhabitants, from transportation to utilities and everything in between. However, even with all its benefits, magic can also be used for great evil; therefore, to prevent dark forces from upsetting the natural order of things, there exists a system of magical guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore. Under the command of their respective guild masters, these guilds are made up of witches and wizards who take on various job requests to earn fame and fortune. One particular guild stands high above the rest in both strength and spirit, and its name is Fairy Tail.”
