Netflix’s Emily in Paris is set to continue its global run, with the streamer officially confirming a sixth season. The renewal ensures that Emily Cooper, portrayed by Lily Collins, will remain in Europe as her professional and personal journey evolves further.
Creator Darren Star has already outlined a broader creative direction for the upcoming season. Speaking at a press conference in December, Star emphasized that while the series will always remain rooted in Paris, it will continue to explore new locations organically tied to the narrative.
“There are a lot of places I’d love to visit. But I think the show organically [follows] the storyline,” he said. “The show is Emily in Paris. It’s never going to permanently leave its home base. But if I can take the audience on a journey somewhere else, I would love that … [It’s] fun to think about.”
That expansion is now confirmed, with production on Emily in Paris Season 6 scheduled to begin in May and new storylines set to unfold in Greece and Monaco.
Season 5 followed Emily as she traveled to Rome, balancing business ambitions with personal entanglements. Tasked with launching an Agence Grateau office in the Italian capital, the Chicago-born marketing executive also entered a relationship with Marcello Muratori, a luxury fashion heir.
As her life grew increasingly complex, Emily found herself divided between the allure of Italy and her established career and relationships in France.
The series continues to demonstrate strong global performance. Emily in Paris Season 5 recorded 26.8 million views within its first 11 days, ranking as the top television series in 24 countries, including France, Italy, Brazil, and Germany. It also secured a place in the Top 10 across 91 countries.

The sustained popularity of the show, driven by its central trio of Emily, Mindy Chen, and their wider social circle, has reinforced its position as one of Netflix’s most consistent international hits. In recognition of his contributions to entertainment, Star was recently awarded the chevalier de la Légion d’honneur, France’s highest civilian distinction.
Narratively, Season 5 concludes with a pivotal sequence in Venice, where Marcello presents his solo fashion debut. The success of the showcase earns him approval from his mother, Antonia, who grants him full control of the family’s historic cashmere business.
Marcello invites Emily to join him in that next chapter, but she declines, choosing to prioritize her fast-paced career in Paris over a quieter life in his village of Solitano. The decision leads to another breakup between the two.
Mindy’s storyline develops in parallel. Her on-again, off-again relationship with Nicolas de Léon culminates in a proposal, which she accepts. However, the situation becomes complicated when Alfie openly challenges the engagement, describing it as a “big mistake,” and revealing unresolved emotional tension.
At the same time, Emily’s former partner, Gabriel, introduces another potential turning point. Planning time away in Greece and aware of Emily’s recent breakup, he invites her to join him aboard his employer’s yacht in the Mediterranean, setting up a possible shift in her romantic trajectory.
Emily in Paris Season 6 is expected to pick up from these unresolved threads, with Emily once again positioned between competing relationships, career ambitions, and geographic possibilities.
While Paris remains the narrative anchor, the expansion into new European settings signals a continued evolution in both scope and character development. Emily in Paris is slated to return in 2026.
