Khalid, who has a beautiful voice like an angel, was supposed to sing at the Washington Commander’s arena on Saturday night as the first performer for Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour. But unfortunately, the singer met an unfateful car accident and couldn’t perform. So, Ed Sheeran decided to surprise everyone by performing as the opening himself.
During the concert, Ed Sheeran informed the crowd of 60,000 people that Khalid had been in a car accident recently. Sheeran then announced that he would be performing as the opening act himself since Khalid was still recovering. Sheeran also expressed his good wishes for Khalid’s recovery and wished him the best.

Ed Sheeran, the “Perfect” and “Shape of You” singer, made a light-hearted remark during the concert. He mentioned that he would be reminding the audience after each song that he was originally scheduled to have opening acts that day. He joked that if people didn’t know about the change, they might be disappointed, expecting more elaborate fireworks-like performances.

Ed Sheeran maintained his enthusiasm throughout the concert. He mentioned how, normally, when he starts playing, the venue is dark, but he could see everyone in the audience, which he found awesome. He expressed his enjoyment, saying, “This is pretty fun; I kind of feel like when you’re the main act, there’s like… a bunch of pressure. …I feel like when you’re the opening act, it’s sort of like, let’s have fun”.
It was previously officially announced that Khalid would be the opening act for Ed Sheeran’s tour. Khalid put out his excitement on Instagram, mentioning how thrilled he was to join his friend Ed Sheeran on the tour.
He shared that it was going to be his first time performing in stadiums and expressed his delight about performing alongside Ed Sheeran. Khalid also made a playful reference to their collaborative hit song “Beautiful People” in his post.
