Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a brand-new gameplay trailer for DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3, offering fans their most detailed look yet at the sequel’s combat mechanics and progression systems. The latest preview highlights how the game blends fast-paced action with deeper character customization while emphasizing the theme of “connection” between players and iconic Dragon Ball heroes.

Set during the previously unexplored AGE 1000, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 places players in the role of a custom hero who fights alongside legendary warriors to protect history. The new trailer follows a rookie member of the Great Saiya Squad through a full mission, demonstrating how combat, teamwork, and character growth work together throughout the adventure.

According to Bandai Namco Entertainment, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

New gameplay trailer showcases deeper combat mechanics

The latest gameplay footage reveals that battles revolve around mastering Ki management, making it a core part of every encounter. Players can drain enemy Ki through standard combos, charged attacks, and specialized Ki Drain Super Attacks.

Once an opponent’s Ki is depleted, they enter Ki Break status, creating an opening for Break Smash, a powerful finishing attack that deals significantly more damage than standard Super Attacks. Players can also unleash cinematic Ultimate Attacks after filling their Ultimate Gauge, adding another layer of strategy during difficult boss fights.

The trailer also demonstrates squad-based missions supporting up to four players, where teams must adjust their tactics while battling enemy waves before facing powerful bosses.

Soul Assist, Soul Switch and transformations expand customization

Beyond traditional combat, DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 introduces several new mechanics centered around players’ connections with iconic Dragon Ball characters.

The Soul Assist system allows players to summon legendary heroes once the Assist Gauge is full, triggering one of that character’s signature techniques during battle.

Meanwhile, Soul Switch temporarily lets players channel another character’s soul, transforming their appearance while dramatically enhancing combat abilities. The trailer also confirms race-specific awakenings, including Super Saiyan, with Bandai Namco stating that additional races, transformations, and playstyles will be revealed in future updates.

Each playable character also features a unique Battle Style, influencing available combo chains and special techniques inspired by famous Dragon Ball fighters such as Goku and Vegeta.

More DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 reveals are on the way

Bandai Namco says today’s gameplay trailer is only the beginning, with more information about DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3 planned over the coming months.

The publisher described the game as one where players can “choose the hero they want to become and fight alongside DRAGON BALL heroes who once protected Earth,” while continuing to build connections that directly affect gameplay and progression.
