Chernin Entertainment is bringing two of Embark Studios’ biggest games to film and television. The production company has been selected by Nexon and Embark Studios to serve as the lead producer for screen adaptations of ARC Raiders and THE FINALS, marking a major expansion of both properties beyond gaming.
The agreement comes as ARC Raiders continues its strong run following its October 2025 launch. The multiplayer extraction shooter attracted 250,000 concurrent players on Steam on launch day, exceeded 700,000 concurrent players across platforms within its first two weeks, and has now sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. Its success has also been recognized at several major awards shows.
Meanwhile, THE FINALS has surpassed 30 million players since launching in 2023. With both games built around distinctive worlds and multiplayer-driven concepts, the partnership gives Chernin Entertainment an opportunity to develop stories that extend beyond their existing game formats.
ARC Raiders and THE FINALS Head to Film and Television
ARC Raiders is set on a future Earth devastated by the mysterious mechanized ARC threat. Players take on the role of Raiders who venture into a dangerous world to collect resources while avoiding hostile machines and competing against other players.
The game has quickly established itself as one of the biggest multiplayer releases of recent years. ARC Raiders won Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2025, Online Game of the Year at the 29th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, and Best Multiplayer at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards.
The game’s largest update so far, Frozen Trail, is scheduled to launch on October 8, 2026.
THE FINALS takes a very different approach. The free-to-play first-person shooter places competitors inside a virtual combat game show, where players fight for fame and fortune across destructible arenas inspired by locations including Monaco and Las Vegas.
Its physics-driven destruction is a major part of the experience, with environmental changes handled through server-side systems. The game’s next season is scheduled to arrive on October 20.

Chernin Entertainment Plans Broader Transmedia Expansion
Embark Studios founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund said the partnership represents “the next big step” toward turning the two games into “deeply integrated transmedia experiences.” He also emphasized that Embark‘s creative teams will work closely with Chernin to preserve the qualities that define both properties.
David Ready, President of Film at Chernin Entertainment, said ARC Raiders and THE FINALS are the type of projects the company has been pursuing, describing them as “ambitious global IP” capable of becoming major film and television franchises.
Chernin Entertainment enters the partnership with an established film and television production slate. Its recent projects include Backrooms, The Last House, and Apex, while its television credits include Chief of War, Truth Be Told, The Madness, and Man on Fire.
The deal also arrives during a significant period of expansion for Chernin’s parent company, The North Road Company. Mediawan announced an agreement in January to acquire North Road, creating a larger independent studio with production operations across multiple continents.
For Embark Studios, the agreement represents another step in expanding its original intellectual properties. The Stockholm-based studio, founded in 2018, has more than 370 employees and has developed both THE FINALS and ARC Raiders as major pillars of its growing portfolio.
No release dates, directors, writers, cast members, or specific formats for the ARC Raiders and THE FINALS adaptations have been announced yet.
