Fans of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 finally have a confirmed date for new content. After months of waiting, Bandai Namco has scheduled the release of multiple DLC packs for May 27, 2026, bringing content that was previously available on other platforms to Nintendo players. The update includes two Dragon Ball Daima character packs along with a bonus playable character, Shallot, marking a major content expansion for the game on Switch systems.

The announcement comes after Sparking Zero launched on Nintendo platforms in late 2025, well after its initial 2024 debut on other consoles. As a result, Switch users have been playing catch-up, and this DLC drop is a significant step toward closing that gap.

Daima Character Packs Add Major New Fighters

The biggest highlight of the upcoming release is the inclusion of two Dragon Ball Daima character packs, which introduce a range of new fighters inspired by the latest entries in the franchise. Character Pack 1 brings eight playable characters, including different versions of Goku and Vegeta in their mini forms, along with multiple Super Saiyan transformations.

This pack also includes characters like Glorio, Panzy, and Majin Kuu, expanding the roster with fresh faces from the Daima storyline. One notable addition is a special outfit for Goku (Mini) that changes his move set, offering a gameplay twist rather than just a cosmetic upgrade.

Character Pack 2 continues the expansion with six more fighters, including powerful forms such as Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta variants. It also introduces characters like Majin Duu and Gomah, including a giant version of the latter, adding variety to both combat styles and character selection.

Together, these packs significantly expand the playable roster, giving fans more options and deeper gameplay variety.

Shallot DLC Brings a Fan-Favorite Character

Alongside the Daima packs, players will also receive Shallot as a standalone DLC character. Originally introduced in Dragon Ball Legends, Shallot has built a strong fan following, and his inclusion in Sparking Zero adds another layer of crossover appeal.

While he is a single-character addition compared to the larger packs, Shallot’s presence is notable because it connects different parts of the Dragon Ball gaming universe. His fighting style and abilities are expected to bring a unique dynamic to the roster, especially for players familiar with his original appearance.

For many fans, Shallot’s inclusion is one of the most anticipated aspects of this DLC release, as it represents a broader expansion beyond the main anime continuity.

Why Switch Players Had to Wait

The delayed arrival of these DLC packs on Nintendo platforms is tied to the game’s staggered release schedule. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero launched on other consoles in 2024, with DLC content rolling out shortly after. However, the Switch and Switch 2 versions did not release until late 2025, leaving Nintendo players behind in terms of additional content.

This gap meant that while other players were already exploring new characters and updates, Switch users had to wait for those same features to be adapted and optimized for their systems. The May 27 release effectively brings Nintendo versions closer to parity with other platforms, though some differences remain.

Notably, the Switch versions run at lower graphical settings compared to more powerful consoles, a trade-off that allows the game to function smoothly on portable hardware. Despite this, the core gameplay experience and content remain largely intact.
