A new trailer for Dragon Ball Daima has been released, bringing new information about the series, including the official name of Goku’s new form. The trailer introduced the demon-like character from the first trailer as Gomah and revealed two new characters: Glorio, a blue alien who fights Goku, and the Masked Majin, a mysterious figure whose role in the story is still unclear.
In addition to new characters, the latest trailer for Dragon Ball Daima provided more details about Goku and other returning cast members. A major aspect of the anime’s premise is that Goku and his friends and family have been turned into children. After nearly a year without much clarification, Dragon Ball Daima has officially named this version of Goku and the rest of the cast.
This distinction helps differentiate Dragon Ball Daima from Dragon Ball GT and will make it stand out. Instead of referring to Goku as “Kid Goku” again, the official Dragon Ball website, updated with new story information after the trailer release, revealed that Dragon Ball Daima’s version of Goku is called Goku (Mini).
The other returning characters follow a similar naming scheme, indicating that the old “Kid” naming scheme will not be used in Dragon Ball Daima.
Dragon Ball Daima’s (Mini) Designation: Shrunken Cast, Not Child Versions
The (Mini) designation has significant implications for the anime’s central gimmick. With Goku and others being labeled as mini versions of themselves rather than kid versions, it suggests that Dragon Ball Daima might have the cast shrunken down in size and power rather than turned back into children.
This would explain why characters like Krillin and Piccolo do not have their canon child designs. Although Goten and Trunks looking like babies complicates this idea, the series premiere in October will clarify everything.
The (Mini) designation further differentiates Dragon Ball Daima from Dragon Ball GT. Goku’s transformation into a child and subsequent space travels drew immediate comparisons to GT, but referring to Dragon Ball Daima’s Goku as Goku (Mini) indicates that he should not be seen as similar to Dragon Ball GT’s Kid Goku.
This distinction will reassure anyone worried that the series would simply be a retool of GT. The (Mini) designation appears to be a unique aspect of Dragon Ball Daima, and it will be exciting to see it unfold in October.
