Dr. Dre, also known as Andre Romelle Young, the renowned record producer and rapper, has disclosed that the brain aneurysm that landed him in the hospital in 2021 resulted in three strokes during his two-week hospitalization.
“It’s just something that you can’t control that just happens,” Dr. Dre said during a March 14 interview on the podcast “The Life of Mine With James Corden.”
Dr. Dre recounted that he queried his medical team about potential preventive measures for his aneurysm, yet received no definitive answers.
However, they did inform him about his high blood pressure, highlighting its significance as an untreated risk factor for brain aneurysms and a primary cause of stroke.
“I had no idea that I had high blood pressure or anything like that. I’m lifting weights, I’m running, I’m doing everything I can to keep myself healthy,” he said during the podcast.
“High blood pressure in Black men, that’s just what it is. They call it the silent killer. You just have no idea.”
