Did Lee Doona and WonJun end up together? In the Doona Series, Yang Se-Jong plays Seoul student Lee Wanjun, while Bae Susy plays Doona, a former K-pop idol. The plot of the show centers on Lee Doona, who quits her K-pop job to become a student and meet Wanjun, her new neighbor. While learning about themselves, they develop an unexpected romance in spite of their differences.
The truth is that we only witnessed their realization of love for one another in season 1. But actually, experiencing that love is a whole other story for two people with such distinct personalities.
It involves being able to have difficult talks, make visible and intangible changes, and devote themselves to the everyday work required to be in each other’s lives. And a possible Doona Season 2 could explore their new kind of mature love.
Doona Season 1 Ending
In the series’ final episode, the way the story is presented may make you think of it as a hazy memory. While events take place in a jumbled order and jump around in time, one thing is certain: Won-Jun leaves his previous flat to concentrate on academics away from Doona. In the meantime, Doona grows more self-assured and returns, this time alone, to her K-pop origins.
They have a few meetings, but in 2023, despite Doona’s desire to stick with Jun, he decides to call it quits. Wanjun breaks up with her because the distance between them gets too big. With time, Wanjun’s friends likewise move on and get preoccupied with jobs and other commitments. Jinju returns one day and runs into Wanjun. He discovers that she is still in contact with Doona.
Moving On With Life
Doona is preparing to release her next album four years later. Jun and the others reunite for the final time at their old digs, which the landlady intends to renovate in preparation for her son’s wedding. Jun updates the others on his job interviews, letting them know that he’s making progress in the final rounds and could soon be hired for a reputable position.
After saying goodbye to the others, he goes back to the dorm again to collect his jacket and discovers Doona there. They go out for drinks together and later split up. Donna, still crushed by their split, decides to talk to Wanjun about it even after.
Despite the fact that Doona admits during the fight that she no longer needs a guy in her life, she still feels empty about it and asks him to say sorry for leaving her in such a way. Like her, Jun regretted his actions and felt guilty about the way he ended things.
The final moments take us to Japan, where Doona attends an event and is greeted by excited fans who cheer her. At the same location, we notice Jun, who appears happy as his boss makes a purchase. Although Doona and Jun come close to each other, they ultimately decide to go in separate directions. Doona turns to face Wan-Jun, but he doesn’t see her. The show seems to imply that he has moved on.
Doona Season 2 Release Date
At the moment, there hasn’t been any news on the renewal of this K-Drama by Netflix. When deciding whether to renew a series, Netflix typically takes a look at how the show is doing on the platform and takes about a month to make the decision to renew the show.
It is possible that Doona Season 2 will be announced by the end of November 2023, assuming a second season of the show is planned. And if a script for season two has already been prepared, filming might begin in December 2023 or the beginning of 2024 if it is renewed by November 2023.
It will take some time to complete the production, followed by a month or two for marketing and post-production. Given everything, it is possible that Doona Season 2 will air in the month of September or October of 2024.
Since Doona is based on a Webtoon, Netflix already has a lot of material to adapt from and could even take the second season to the next level.
Doona Season 2 Spoilers
We think that Won Jun and Doona are still together at the end of Doona Season 1. However, they would still have to learn how to handle their relationship. Even though Doona no longer feels the same way about Wook, he remains in her life. We don’t know how Won Jun would react to that, particularly considering that he has a history of jealousy.
Even though Doona now has her phone back and much more independence, her job and agency still have a significant influence over a large portion of her life.
What would they think if Doona dated someone who isn’t famous? When it came to dating among celebrities, we found that Doona had a sizable fan base but a bad reputation in the business. What if there’s an old controversy or miscommunication that calls for that to be fixed?
Perhaps Doona will have to make up stories about her in order to gain attention, or perhaps she will have to behave as though she is seeing someone else for a darker motive. Won Jun might not like feeling like a helpless bystander during this time. His primary desire had always been to live a regular life, which was one of the reasons he ended his relationship with Doona because of her personality.
Since he was incapable of loving anyone else, they had reconciled, but can love really overcome all obstacles, particularly when trust is a major concern? Throughout season 1, Doona kept on saying that Won Jun lacked bravery. Would Doona season 2 teach him to be bold, to stand up for what he loves, and to be mindful of her life?
