DJ Yesong has been identified as the ex-idol responsible for a fatal DUI incident. According to reports, DJ Yesong, 23, was intoxicated while driving her Mercedes-Benz in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul around 4:35 AM on February 3 KST. She struck a motorcyclist from behind, a delivery driver in his 50s, who was thrown 100 meters and succumbed to his injuries.
At the time of her arrest, DJ Yesong’s blood alcohol level concentration was found to exceed the threshold for license cancellation. Consequently, the senior judge overseeing warrants at the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant on the same day. This decision was made due to concerns that DJ Yesong might attempt to flee, considering her status as a flight risk.
On February 5, DJ Yesong conveyed her apology for the crime through her mother while she remains in jail. She expressed, “I know there’s nothing I can do that relieves me of the crime. I will carry the pain I caused the victim and his family for the rest of my life.”
When pressed as to why she didn’t help the victim after the accident took place, DJ Yesong said, “After the accident, I couldn’t see the victim, and I wasn’t aware that I hit someone. A lot of people were around my car, so I got out. My dog started barking afterward, and I was told by someone on the scene to hold my dog, so I held it.”
DJ Yesong made her debut as a member of INSTAR in 2019 and has since been extensively engaged as a DJ in China.
