“Discussions With My Parents,” based on the best-selling book by Quebec actor François Morency, is a weekly single-camera comedy show filled with colorful exchanges between the star, who is himself a comic, his parents, his brother and sister, and their entourage. The show is Radio-(national Canada’s Canada’s French-language public broadcaster) most-watched comedy.
The third season aired in the fall of 2020, shattering audience records with a 37% average market share. The fourth season is now in production, and the fifth season is in the works. The show is produced by A Media, while CBC and Radio-Canada Distribution, Canada’s national public broadcaster licensing division, are in charge of handling international sales.
Enrique Guillen, executive VP of global strategy at Universal Studio Group, believes that François Morency has turned his conversations with his parents into a brilliant sitcom with boundless comic potential. The crew is keen to learn more about how this brilliant approach can help other well-known comedians and audiences throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe. The concept has also been optioned by Belgian company Eyeworks and German company Eitelsonnenschien in cooperation with sales agent Aroma TV.
All About The Series “Discussion With My Parents”
The Canadian television comedy series Discussions Avec Mes Parents (“Conversations with My Parents”) made its debut in 2018 on Ici Radio-Canada Télé. Based on his book, comedian François Morency’s biography is dramatized in this Quebec City-based television series, which also includes Blaise Tardif as his brother Reynald, Caroline Bouchard as his sister Judith, Vincent Bilodeau as his father Jean-Pierre, and Marie-Ginette Guay as his mother, Rollande.
Filmed in Montreal, Quebec, the series had its premiere on September 10, 2018. The first season was released in 2018, the second was aired in 2019, the third in 2020, and the fourth in 2021. It was revealed in June 2021 that NBCUniversal had acquired the rights to make an American adaptation of the series.

Recap Of The Previous Season
Rollande is used as a test subject for a novel diabetes management strategy. François invites his family to submit ideas for TV shows after realizing how much they undervalue the value of creativity. Stéphanie, a successful entrepreneur who runs a network of hotels across Canada, is introduced to François.
After making a joke about a comic coworker, François is forced to compete against him in a game of bowling, with the loser subjected to a test. Jean-Pierre and Rollande decide to engage in a program that permits young students to help them at home in return for temporary housing, while Judith is seriously considering having a child. The family is undergoing testing. Following family pressure, François attempts to go a month without using sarcasm.
To join the federal postal service, Roch “Chesseuze” Garneau sells his washing company and goes out of business. With the assistance of his neighbor Louis and his friends Roch and Wally, Jean-Pierre decides to track down a group of survivalists. When François shows his family the advertisement poster, they immediately make fun of him. Jean-Pierre decides to change his look after learning that the municipality would thank him for his efforts as a counselor. The teenage Jean-Pierre throws a massive disco party in this special show, which takes place nearly completely in 1980.
Jean-Pierre discusses his love of the weather and his ambition to win the Meteorologist for a Day TV program. After mulling a return to municipal politics, Jean-Pierre opts to serve as a mentor to a new businessman entering the field. While celebrating his first anniversary with his lovely Stéphanie, François is interrupted in the middle of a romantic meal by the ex-owner of his condo, who wishes to return.
Rollande is the host of a new reading club called Les coquines, and Jean-Pierre is launching an astronomy organization. The family goes to great lengths to surprise François on his birthday. After two conferences at her hotel in Quebec are rescheduled, Stéphanie extends an offer to the Morency family for a quiet weekend. On a two-couple excursion, Roch and Gisèle accompanied François and Stéphanie. The season concludes with a holiday special.
