Director Kim Jin-min of the Netflix original series “Goodbye Earth” recently discussed the series and its cast, notably highlighting his satisfaction with Yoo Ah-in’s performance despite the actor’s past controversies.
“Goodbye Earth” revolves around characters facing impending doom as an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth. Kim Jin-min, known for his unique directing style, depicted various societal figures facing the chaos of an apocalypse.
Yoo Ah-in’s involvement in the series was initially overshadowed by his drug-related issues, causing delays in its release. However, Director Kim emphasized that Yoo Ah-in’s character was integral to the story’s interwoven relationships, making it difficult to completely remove him from the series.
Despite the challenges, Kim Jin-min expressed relief and gratitude towards Netflix for proceeding with the series and acknowledged the dedication of the production team. He addressed Yoo Ah-in’s legal situation cautiously, stating that it was beyond his control.
Regarding Yoo Ah-in’s casting, Kim Jin-min revealed that the decision was made to provide a comfortable environment for actress Ahn Eun-jin, who plays a significant role in the series. Despite initial concerns due to the controversy, the director believed Yoo Ah-in was the right fit for the character.
During filming, Kim Jin-min observed excellent chemistry between Yoo Ah-in and Ahn Eun-jin, praising Yoo Ah-in’s dedication and professionalism on set. He commended the actor’s portrayal of a complex character and understood why audiences admired his acting abilities.
