Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie had a rocky relationship that lasted for about ten years before they broke up in 2018. Once they decided to part ways, Cassie found love with Alex Fine.
The “Me & U” singer married the personal trainer in 2019, going on to welcome daughters Frankie and Sunny. Diddy, for his part, went on to date City Girls rapper Yung Miami and welcome a baby girl with Dana Tran.
Forwarding to 2023, Cassie felt she was finally ready to tell her story. She filed an explosive lawsuit labelling assusation on the record producer for s*x trafficking, rape, as well as physical abuse, which he denied.
Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, said in a statement Friday evening, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.” Take a look back at when they started below.
Diddy and Cassie from 2007 to 2015
The former couple first laid eyes on each other in 2005 and began dating two years later. At the time, the rapper had just broken up with the late Kim Porter.
Ventura was recruited by Combs’ clothing line Sean John and signed to his label Bad Boy Records in 2007. Their relationship was confirmed in March when they attended Kanye West’s fashion show at Paris Fashion Week.
In an interview with Madame Noire, she opened up about her date with Combs, saying their love was “a really emotional experience.”
Rumors of an engagement started circulating when the Bad Boy Records founder posted a snap on Instagram with a large rock on his finger. Cassie and Diddy started dating in 2007, but they met in 2005.
However, Combs and the “King of Hearts” crooner have neither confirmed nor denied the suggestion. Fans wondered if the duo had broken up after Ventura shared a meme of a sleeping baby on social media.
“The way I sleep… I know I’m single and no one is cheating on me,” she captioned the post. However, she deleted the photo shortly after it was published. A source told Page Six at the time that she was acting “like a single woman” at the party.

In August, police were called after Ventura and Combs reportedly got into an “explosive argument” while driving in Los Angeles.
Sources told TMZ at the time that Ventura was thinking that she wanted to break up with him, and that thought led him to grab her cell phone and erratically jump out of her car while holding it. Later that year, they appeared to have reconciled, and Combs appeared on the radio show The Breakfast Club.
“Twenty-five percent of the time, I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I hate being here.’ This guy, oh, he cheated on me. ‘He lied to me,'” he said. “But 75% of people say, ‘I’ll make you the happiest woman in the world,'” he says. “And I promise you’ll be the one with the biggest smile on your face.”
In January, the Get Him Greek actor revisited the Power 105.1 show and revealed that he wanted to expand his relationship with Ventura.
He was already the father of children King, Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, Delilah, and Jesse.
“We’re trying to get to 10 points. It’s a race,” he explained. “Whatever is supposed to happen in the future will happen, but this is what I want. Of course, I’m going to have [more kids] with a girl.”
As October approaches, the songwriter and rapper formerly known as Puff Daddy has officially broken up.
Ventura’s rep said in a statement at the time, “They are actually no longer together and haven’t been for months.”
In December of this year, she posted her sweet kiss on social media and announced that she was dating Fine, 30.
Diddy and Cassie from 2019 to 2023
When Fine and Ventura announced their engagement in August, things seemed amicable between her and Diddy – a member of Dirty Money. Combs congratulated the couple on their happy news, writing on social media: “Congratulations @Kathy and Alex. I wish you all nothing but love and bunch of happiness. God bless you ❤️❤️❤️ LOVE.”
Ms. Ventura’s federal lawsuit in Manhattan was filed with a “trigger warning” and alleges that Mr. Combs abused her during their on-and-off relationship from 2005 to 2018.
Among her claims was that Combs allegedly beat her “brutally” and “frequently” several times over the years. In January 2009, she claimed Combs became “angry” after she saw him talking to another music executive at a party in Los Angeles. He then allegedly forced her out of the club and into a car, and he kicked her in the face until she was covered in blood.
Ventura also said she learned Combs was dating rapper Kid Cudi in 2012, when she wasn’t dating Combs at the time, and that Combs threatened to blow up her car. She also claimed
“In February 2012, Mr. Combs told Ventura that he intended to blow up Kid Cudi’s car and wanted to see if Kid Cudi was home with friends at the time.” This is stated in court documents obtained by the paper. Email received. “That’s when Kid Cudi’s car exploded in the driveway.”
Kid Cudi confirmed Ventura’s report to The New York Times through a spokesperson. “That’s all true,” he said. Years later, in 2018, Ventura claimed he broke up with Combs over dinner. Later, when she arrived at her apartment afterward, her man allegedly forced her inside her house and raped her.
Ventura has received support for her claims from many people, including members of Danity Kane (which Combs formed in 2005 through MTV’s “Making the Band”) and her husband Fine.
