The first post-launch update for Deltarune Chapter 5 has arrived, addressing a number of bugs that players encountered shortly after the chapter’s release. Version 0.0.0241 is currently available for the PC and Mac versions of the game, while console players on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 will receive the update as soon as possible.
Developer Toby Fox’s team shared the patch details through the official UNDERTALE X account, confirming that the update focuses on stability improvements, crash fixes, and progression-blocking issues discovered after Chapter 5 launched. The announcement also reassured players that additional fixes will continue to roll out if new problems are identified.
Deltarune version 0.0.0241 patch notes explained
The biggest focus of version 0.0.0241 is on eliminating bugs that could prevent players from progressing through Chapter 5. Several of these issues involved specific enemy encounters or unusual gameplay interactions that could either freeze the game or cause it to crash entirely.
According to the official patch notes, the update fixes a softlock that occurred when using the Flirt ACT against a pink-colored enemy during the final portion of a battle when the music slowed down. Another softlock caused by pressing the Z and X keys simultaneously while interacting with a disappearing fox has also been resolved, along with an additional bug tied to that same sequence.

Players should also notice greater stability throughout Chapter 5 thanks to fixes for crashes involving knives spawned by an aqua-colored enemy and another crash that occurred while collecting candy from a green-colored enemy.
The complete patch notes include:
- Fixed a softlock when using a Flirt ACT against a pink-colored enemy when the music becomes slow toward the end of battle.
- Fixed a softlock caused by pressing Z and X simultaneously while interacting with a disappearing fox.
- Fixed another bug related to the disappearing fox event.
- Fixed a crash when knives spawn from an aqua-colored enemy.
- Fixed a crash when collecting candy from a green-colored enemy.
- Fixed a save-related issue where Kris could become gigantic and make the game unplayable if a previous chapter’s save file had been modified.
- The final boss of Chapter 5 now gradually becomes easier after repeated defeats during the same play session.
Final boss receives an accessibility improvement
Beyond bug fixes, the update also introduces a gameplay adjustment aimed at helping players who struggle with Chapter 5’s concluding encounter.
The patch now causes the chapter’s final boss to gradually become easier after an excessive number of defeats within the same play session. While the developers have not explained exactly how the difficulty scales, the change is designed to reduce frustration without removing the challenge entirely for players who want to overcome the encounter on their own.
This type of adaptive difficulty has become increasingly common in modern games, allowing players to continue progressing through the story without becoming permanently stuck on a single battle.
The development team indicated that version 0.0.0241 is unlikely to be the last post-launch patch for Chapter 5. In its announcement, the team said it
“will continue to address issues as quickly as we can,”
confirming that additional fixes will be released if more problems are discovered.
Console players will have to wait a little longer, as the developers stated that the update will arrive on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation consoles, and other supported platforms “as soon as possible.”
The patch comes just days after the launch of Chapter 5, which expanded Deltarune’s story with new areas, characters, battles, and music. Toby Fox has also confirmed that development on Chapter 6 is already progressing well, meaning the team is balancing post-launch support for the current release while continuing work on the next chapter in the planned seven-chapter RPG.
