In the epilogue of *My Hero Academia*, there’s an 8-year timeskip that shows Deku working as a teacher at UA. While some fans might be disappointed that the story doesn’t end with Deku as the #1 hero, this ending actually fits Deku’s character very well. His personality and skills make him a great hero teacher.
The final chapter reveals that Deku and his classmates are now around 25 years old. After their achievements during the final war and their education at UA, most of Deku’s classmates have become pro heroes.
However, since the power of One for All has faded, hero work is no longer in Deku’s future. Instead, he has chosen to become a teacher at UA, where he now has familiar faces like young Kota in his class.
Deku expresses that although he misses being a hero, he is happy with his new role in shaping the future heroes.
Deku’s Analytical Skills and Quirk Experience Position Him as an Ideal Hero Course Teacher
Deku has always been analytical, as shown by his habit of taking notes and studying heroes. This skill is ideal for a Hero Course teacher because it helps him evaluate Quirks and figure out creative ways to use them.
He can give his students useful feedback and advice on how to improve, just like a good teacher should. This is highlighted in the chapter where Deku meets young Dai and starts analyzing his Quirk and its potential on the spot.
Deku has something unique that no one else has: experience with using many different Quirks. During his time as a hero student, he used all the Quirks within One for All, from ranged attacks like Blackwhip to utility abilities like Smokescreen. This makes him especially suited to help young students with their Quirks.
He can give advice based on his own experience with various abilities, and he has also seen how his friends have improved their Quirks over the years, which provides even more ideas for helping others.
Although the idea of Deku becoming a teacher wasn’t mentioned earlier in the story, it fits perfectly with the skills and experience he gained as a hero. Even though the chapter ends with Deku getting a super suit and doing hero work again, there’s no reason to believe he plans to leave his teaching job.
Many UA teachers are also pro heroes, so Deku’s role as a teacher is quite normal. By the end of *My Hero Academia*, Deku is in the ideal position to influence the next generation of heroes as a teacher while still contributing through his hero work.
