Robert Thorogood is the creator of the British-French crime comedy-drama television series Death in Paradise. Ben Miller (series 1–3), Kris Marshall (seasons 3–6), Ardal O’Hanlon (seasons 6–9), and Ralf Little (seasons 9–ongoing) are only a few of the lead actors that have appeared in the show.
The show starts with Ben Miller’s character, Detective Inspector Richard Poole, looking into a murder on the made-up Caribbean island of Saint Marie. Reluctantly assigned to the island as the detective inspector, Poole solves the case and takes on fresh cases.
In the next season, Kris Marshall, Ardal O’Hanlon, and Ralf Little are among the new detectives that are introduced. Each of them adds a different dimension to the island investigations.
Recap
In the most recent episode of season 13, fan favorite Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) from Death in Paradise made a surprise return to the program.
During a visit to Commissioner Selwyn’s (Don Warrington) residence, Neville (Ralf Little) discovered an old photograph of the former detective sergeant from Saint Marie. “The old gang,” he said, referring to Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) and Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules), the other two individuals in the picture.
The Commissioner and Neville talked about Florence specifically for a short while before discussing the most recent killing at a care facility. And that’s it. Fans were only given that. A little conversation before the show quickly moved to the main event.
The elephant in the room, which is the recent confirmation by Death in Paradise that Florence is under witness protection, must be addressed before we can respond to it. Jobert’s character was departing the Island in quest of a fresh start when we last saw her.
Florence’s life in Saint Marie had become risky due to her undercover case as the au pair of the drug trafficker Miranda Priestly’s child (that name alone conjures negative energy).
We are aware that his initial attempt to confess his affections to her was unsuccessful (much to the dismay of his supporters), but what if Death in Paradise aims to make things right? Jobert has already hinted at a potential comeback to the series in the Beyond Paradise spin-off.
Even though Shipton Abbott is distant from Saint Marie’s sandy beaches, their universes have already collided, and Florence may do so once more. Death in Paradise is, at the absolute least, fanning the flames of a potential Florence comeback, and it even suggests that Neville will be leading it.
