Deadpool & Wolverine has reached a major box office milestone. It has surpassed Dune: Part 2 internationally, making it the #2 film of 2024 in both domestic and global markets. The film is only behind Inside Out 2. This makes The Walt Disney Studios the proud holder of the top two movies of the year.
The movie is doing well, with earnings for Monday, August 5, estimated at $12.2 million domestically and $14.2 million internationally, totaling $26.4 million worldwide.
So far, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned $407.6 million in the U.S. and $444.3 million internationally, bringing its total global earnings to $851.9 million. The film is doing very well in international markets. China leads with $46.8 million, followed by the United Kingdom with $44.7 million, and Mexico with $33.5 million.
Other strong performances include Australia with $25.2 million, Germany with $19.6 million, and France with $18.9 million. Other notable markets include Brazil ($18.1 million), India ($16.1 million), Spain ($15.2 million), Italy ($13.6 million), Korea ($12.7 million), and Argentina ($10.1 million).
How Well Has ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Been Doing?
The film had an explosive opening weekend, bringing in $211 million. This set a new record for R-rated movies and broke daily records throughout its release. Deadpool & Wolverine has not only surpassed its previous films—Deadpool 2 ($324 million) and Deadpool ($363 million)—but has also outdone other major R-rated movies like Joker and Oppenheimer.
Even though it is currently behind these films in global earnings, it will soon cross the $1 billion mark worldwide and solidify its place as a box office hit.
The success of the movie also helped Disney reach a big milestone this year. Disney is the first studio to earn more than $3 billion in global box office revenue this year with only four major releases. The studio started the summer with the poorly received horror film The First Omen.
Many thought the box office season was over before Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came out and revived the market, with help from Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The success was boosted further by the year’s first billion-dollar film, Inside Out 2, which set the stage for Deadpool & Wolverine.
