Russian forces unleashed deadly assaults on Wednesday in the south and north of Ukraine, targeting Kharkiv and Odesa regions, resulting in seven fatalities and numerous injuries, officials confirmed.
In the Odesa district, an evening missile attack killed four individuals, including a 10-year-old girl, and wounded 14 others, according to regional Governor Oleh Kiper. Kiper stated that four of the wounded were in critical condition, with one man undergoing leg amputation.
In the northeastern Kharkiv region, a strike on a pharmacy in the village of Lyptsi claimed the lives of a 14-year-old girl and two women, with two others injured.
Two guided bombs destroyed a clinic in the village of Vovchansk, injuring one person, Governor Oleh Synehubov disclosed. Russian troops also dropped an explosive on a bus, injuring a man, as reported by the interior ministry.
On the Russian side of the border, three people, including two children, were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on a car, according to Roman Starovoyt, governor of Kursk region. Reuters couldn’t independently verify battlefield accounts from either side.
Governor Kiper mentioned that missiles, presumed to be Iskander-M ballistic missiles, struck between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., damaging transportation infrastructure and nearby trucks.
The Ukrainian military described the attack as a “treacherous double strike” that targeted people returning home from work.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the deaths, expressing frustration with ongoing Russian aggression at the border and frontline areas.
Zelenskiy also discussed Ukraine’s domestic missile production during a meeting with military officials, indicating satisfaction with industry progress.
