During their experiment, they choose the last standing gladiator Gunther as their subject and successfully turn him into a fighting machine. The only catch is that Gunther operates with the help of a particular human’s life force and after the connection is cut off, he can only live for 2 hours before dying. Even though Gunther is not one with selfless motives, he agrees to be the beacon of hope for humanity and fight for their sake.

Previously in the manhwa, the vampire from the true nobility takes Gunther’s head and begins making his way to the forest where he can hide from prying eyes. The Princess and the knights, afraid of the deadly vampire did not try to interfere and save Gunther’s head. The Princess who is the vampire’s niece truly despises him but doesn’t stand in his way to protect humanity or Gunther either.

As the vampire proceeds through the lands, people keep moving away to make way for him, threatened by his overpowering aura. The vampire gets on the bridge and everyone begins to panic since the forest lies just beyond the bridge where it would be impossible to track down the vampire. To everyone’s surprise, a knight steps in the vampire’s way and a few more knights follow, all in an attempt to save Gunther’s head.

The vampire knight is confused why they would throw their lives away for just a head but Gunther’s head is the only hope for humanity. The vampire doesn’t kill them but leaves them gravely injured. A few steps ahead, Arien is standing with a sword in her head, ready to throw her life away just so that she can give Gunther a chance. The vampire admires her courage as well as warns her that he will not show her mercy and attacks her right after.

Just as the attack is about to hit Arien, the sun comes up and the vampire begins to burn. He retreats in the shadow, trapped in a singular tree’s shadow with nowhere to go. The Princess comes in and begins taunting the vampire, telling him how pitiful it looks. The Princess contemplates burning the tree down when the vampire tells the Princess that she should handle the matter in a dignified manner and also that he has a proposal for her.
