Dave Myers, renowned as one half of the dynamic cooking duo, the Hairy Bikers, passed away at the age of 66 after bravely battling cancer.
Despite his untimely demise, Myers would have wished for fans to relish the “magical series” he and his co-star Si King had filmed together.
The latest BBC Two series featuring the pair, titled “The Hairy Bikers Go West,” had recently begun airing. Despite the somber news, the scheduled airing of the next episode tonight remains unchanged, as confirmed by a recent post on the TV chefs’ Instagram page. It added:
“Despite such a sad time, we know that Dave would have wanted you to continue to enjoy the magical series that he shot with Si last year. We’d like to thank everyone from all over the world, who has reached out with messages of love and support over the last few days. Every one of them has been read and truly appreciated.”
At the time of his passing at the age of 66, account statements revealed that Dave Myers’ companies held a substantial value, nearing £1.5 million.
Among these, his production company, Sharpletter, boasted assets exceeding £1.4 million, as per accounts filed on January 31. It was disclosed that Myers co-owned this company alongside his wife, Liliana.
Additionally, another venture established with his co-star, King, known as Hairy Bikers Television, demonstrated a considerable value, nearly £100,000, according to documents filed with Companies House in December.
Notably, Myers garnered a new wave of admirers in 2013 when he participated in Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Karen Hauer, achieving a commendable run until week seven of the BBC competition.
Originally from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, Dave Myers disclosed his cancer treatment journey in May 2022, although he didn’t specify the type of cancer he was battling. Beginning his career as a make-up artist, Myers crossed paths with Si King in 1995 while working on the TV drama “The Gambling Man.”
Their collaborative TV journey commenced with “The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook” in 2004, blending cooking and travel elements, with the duo embarking on a motorcycle journey across Portugal in the inaugural episode.
This paved the way for a series of successful shows including “The Hairy Bikers Ride Again,” “The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour Of Britain,” “The Hairy Bikers: Mums Know Best,” “The Hairy Bikers’ Cook Off,” and “Hairy Bikers: Best of British.” Notably, their partnership has resulted in the publication of over 25 cookery books.
