We are all no strangers to the fact that Thai BLs have had a huge boom in popularity over the past couple of years. It’s no exaggeration to say that this genre of TV has played its own part in encouraging the visibility of queer narratives in mainstream Asian entertainment.
Indeed, that’s exactly why Dangerous Romance was renewed for a second season and is going just as strong as before. Dangerous Romance Season 2 Episode 6 is due to be released soon and, to much fanfare, will include a lot of important and very interesting developments that have been eagerly anticipated.
Dangerous Romance is a Thai BL drama whose protagonists, Kanghan and Sailom, are schoolmates, but could not be any more different in every other aspect of life- status, personality, and interests, just to name a few.
In fact, Kanghan and Sailom’s first encounter is less than desirable as the latter is one of the rare few who actually stands up to the school bad boy’s bullying. When Kanghan figures out that Sailom won’t take any of his nonsense, he chooses to behave exactly like an adolescent by relentlessly being on Sailom’s case every day.
Of course, though, that can’t be the end; fate decides to play tricks on them as Sailom ends up having to tutor Kanghan after the two accept that there’s something to benefit for both of them- for Kanghan, his grades, and for Sailom, some much-needed money.
Becoming unreasonably close for two people who claim to hate each other, our two leads begin to slowly but surely come to the realization that the bond they now share is much deeper and richer than anyone had expected.
Having premiered on the Thai TV channel GMM25, Dangerous Romance Season 2 gained immediate traction after a successful season of the show. With all this buzz around the series, let’s go back for a quick recap of what has happened till Dangerous Romance Episode 6.
Everything that happened till Dangerous Romance Episode 6
Episode 5 of the series was released on the 15th of September, 2023, and boy, was it worth the wait. It opens with Kanghan and his grandma having a rather wholesome conversation about his grades, his future, and (of course) his friendship with Sailom- Grandma clearly knows more than she lets on. Shortly after, Sailom moves in as previously planned, and Kanghan shows him around his luxurious house.
After a bit of banter and roughhousing, they all have dinner together with some delicious-looking fish and rice on the menu. He wouldn’t be Kanghan without taking every opportunity to tease Sailom, which he gladly does at several points throughout the latter’s stay. It’s these small moments between the two that really show how the connection between them has really changed for the better as compared to before.
We also see how Kanghan and Sailom’s class has a substitute homeroom teacher, who introduces herself in an unintentionally hilarious manner. Nonetheless, Napdao appears to be quite nice and helpful, wanting to get to know her students better, and Pimfah seems to take a liking to her right away.
The two boys also have an important conversation about their future college majors, and what this choice means to them. Once again, the difference between their lifestyles pops up, which seems to be making Kanghan increasingly more uncomfortable every time it happens.
The three friends, Kanghan, Sailom, and Pimfah, decide to attend a college’s open house event in hopes of getting a clearer idea about what each faculty looks like. However, Sailom’s head is elsewhere- he has big dreams of impressing Kanghan by dressing up a little, but the poor boy gets ignored so badly it’s more than a little funny.
They end up meeting their new teacher there by chance, who offers to show them around. While the other two look like they’re about to say no, Pimfah leaps at the chance, and the little group sticks together till the engineering faculty. At this point, Kanghan shoos Sailom away to be guided by Napdao while he takes Pimfah away to a different faculty. Why exactly he is so desperate to separate from Sailom is still a mystery.
Something else that Napdao explains is that the open house event also has a tradition where students attach small locks to a specific fence, kind of like a good luck charm for getting accepted into the college. It’s even better to do it with someone you like, as it signifies a wish for both to get in.
After some more adventures involving visiting the environmental conservation faculty with Pimfah and getting pooped on by a bearded dragon, Kanghan decides he’s had enough, and just as he’s about to leave, he bumps into Sailom. The two end up in matching college t-shirts that Kanghan pretends he hates, and they continue their little tour together.
Of course, no Thai BL is complete without a guitar and singing scene, which is exactly what the two do on stage, singing a cheesy love song together. After a decidedly fulfilling day, Kanghan and Sailom go back to the fence they saw at the start. In a touching moment, the former gives Sailom a lock, which the boy clicks shut on the fence- only to see Kanghan handing Pimfah another.
If that wasn’t enough, he also sees Kanghan latching his lock on Pimfah’s red one. With this misunderstanding somehow worsened even further, a thoroughly dejected Sailom stalks off home. What he doesn’t see, though, is how Kanghan actually chooses to attach his lock separately at the foot of the fence, instead. Looking up, Kanghan (oblivious to what Sailom has witnessed) is in for his own shock- Pimfah has her own pink lock clasped right onto Sailom’s.
Dangerous Romance Episode 6: Preview and Spoilers
With that cliffhanger, we can now turn to what Episode 6 has to offer us. You can check out the official preview below.
There are so many things of interest here. First of all, we can see Sailom back in his room in his own house, with his brother worriedly asking what’s wrong, but to no avail. Clearly not in the best state of mind, the boy also appears to be ignoring or at least brushing off Kanghan, who seems to be equally as worried- and kind of scared.
Sailom’s physical health has also gone for a toss, evident in the way he faints in class and his exhaustion while working. It looks like Kanghan is there for him regardless, though, taking care of Sailom when he runs a fever and even completing his schoolwork for him.
Most importantly, though, that absolutely adorable kiss between Kanghan and Sailom is definitely going to make fans squeal- that’s for sure the part that everyone is going to look forward to the most!
