Cyborg 009: Nemesis has released official music videos for both of its theme songs, giving fans a closer look at the anime’s visual presentation alongside its soundtrack. The newly available non-credit opening features Kyoko performing “Dare ga Tame ni,” while the ending sequence uses “Climal” by Japanese duo Sukima Switch. The official Cyborg 009: Nemesis website now lists both sequences among the series’ promotional videos.
The release gives fans another opportunity to see how the latest adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori’s classic manga connects its modernized animation with music rooted in the franchise’s history.
Kyoko Revives a Classic Cyborg 009 Theme
The opening song, “Dare ga Tame ni,” is performed by Kyoko, the rock singer also known for her work with BARBEE BOYS. The song has an especially strong connection to the franchise because it originally served as the opening theme for the 1979 Cyborg 009 television anime.
The new version therefore bridges the original series and Nemesis, rather than introducing an entirely new song. The lyrics were written by Ishinomori and are associated with the cyborg warriors’ fate, sorrow, and determination. Kyoko previously explained that she was honored to participate in a franchise she had known since childhood and wanted her performance to preserve the song’s original spirit while giving it her own interpretation.
The updated opening also fits the new anime’s focus on a generational conflict between the original Cyborg 009 team and the newly formed Nemesis group.
Sukima Switch Provides the Anime’s Ending Theme
The ending song takes a different musical direction. “Climal” is performed by Sukima Switch, the Japanese pop-rock duo. The track was selected as the anime’s ending theme before the series premiered and was originally included on the duo’s 2024 album A museMentally.
In a statement released through Ishimori Productions, Sukima Switch expressed excitement about contributing to a franchise that has remained popular across generations. The duo also pointed to the conflict between the cyborg warriors, particularly their different ideas about justice and their respective visions for the future.
The ending sequence can now be viewed in its non-credit form, allowing the animation and song to stand on their own without staff credits covering the visuals.
