2024 couldn’t have been more better than this. Just recently, Crunchyroll announced Season 2 of Tower of God. It almost took three years for them to announce it, but they finally did at the end of the day.
Many fans of this anime are so excited for this anime to come out. The Tower of God is about climbing a tower with each floor representing its own. The world-building is outstanding, and there’s an amazing cast of characters and countless mysteries surrounding the tower.
Season 2 will dive into more sinister aspects surrounding its existence and the dark politics of the ruling families and Jahad. All while Bam struggles to fight his own inner demons conflicting with his desires, and Rachel continues Paving her path as a deplorable manipulator who cheats her way to get what she wants.
Season 1 has a lot of love, as every popular anime does, and it is just the beginning, so prepare to have your set expectations high since season 2 will break all of them.
And with Solo Leveling scheduled for January 2024, it seems like next year is turning up quite nicely for Manhwa fans. Now, let’s have a recap of what happened in season 1 so you forget the plot when the anime comes out.
Tower of God Plot
A weak, naive boy awakens his dormant power, becoming the strongest in the Tower of Gods. Bam wakes up in a mysterious Place feeling confused and overwhelmed. Suddenly, he was startled by the caretaker of the tower, who had crept up on him.
Headon greeted him warmly and asked if he would take the test necessary to climb the tower. He tells Bam that climbing the tower can lead to a range of different rewards, whether it’s money, power, prestige, or even the potential to become God.
But Bam only wishes to meet Rachel, who abandoned him to climb the tower. Bam was presented with a large cage behind the wall containing a giant heel. To pass the test, he had to battle the eel and pop a ball inside the cage.
Determined to see Rachel, Bam raced past him, but before he could enter the cage, Yuri, a princess of Jahad, suddenly fell and landed her foot right on his face. She and even her support declared him an irregular, which she explained as an outsider who managed to break through the gates of the tower on their own.
She felt the test was unfair, as the eel was an opponent of the 20th floor. Out of pity, she lent him a powerful sword known as the Black March. As Bam stepped into the cage, the eel charged at him, but Bam did not flinch. He stood his ground, facing the eel head-on to the shock of those watching.
The eel swallowed the manhole in one swift gulp. Headedon declared that this was the path Bam chose and that he had to overcome his fear of death. Suddenly, the eel spat Bam out with a shower of green blood, proving that Bam had passed the test.
Bam approached the ball with the eel squirming in the background, taking a deep breath. He thrusts his hand forward, stabbing at the ball, but nothing happens. Bam tries again and again, determined to break it, but nothing. His mind starts to flood with memories from when he met Rachel.
He was on top of a large pile of rocks, hitting the roof with a stone, but he slipped and slid down the pile. However, the roof collapsed, and an array of yellow lights emerged, with Rachel appearing.
They sat together, and he revealed that he couldn’t remember anything, but Rachel was there to help teach him how to read and write, how to love and told him about the Tower of God and her wish to reach the top and see the Starry Sky.
