Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert has emerged as one of 2026’s biggest gaming success stories, becoming the highest-grossing new intellectual property (IP) on Steam this year. The open-world action RPG has generated more than $190 million in Steam revenue since its launch in March, according to new market data.

According to Alinea Analytics and Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert ranks as the No. 1 new IP by Steam revenue in 2026. Across all games released on Steam this year, it trails only Forza Horizon 6 and Resident Evil Requiem, making it the third-highest-grossing title overall.

Alinea Analytics noted that the accomplishment is particularly notable because the highest-ranking games are largely sequels to established franchises, while Crimson Desert is an entirely original property.

The game’s commercial performance has remained impressive since launch. Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies on its first day, surpassed 5 million copies within its first month, and reached 6 million copies sold in just 83 days. The title has also maintained its full retail price without major discounts, underscoring sustained consumer demand.

Built using Pearl Abyss’ proprietary BlackSpace Engine, Crimson Desert combines large-scale open-world exploration with cinematic action combat across PC and consoles. Its early commercial success positions it as one of the standout original game launches of 2026 and a major milestone for the South Korean developer.
