REMOW Co., LTD. has confirmed that the slice-of-life comedy anime Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi! will begin its international rollout on April 12, 2026. The first episode will be released across multiple platforms, including Rakuten VIKI, Ocean Veil, the It’s Anime YouTube channel, and ADN, with regional availability differing depending on the service.
After the premiere, subsequent episodes will follow shortly after their broadcast in Japan on Rakuten VIKI, Ocean Veil, and ADN. Viewers watching through the It’s Anime YouTube channel will receive episodes with a one-week delay.
In terms of distribution, Rakuten VIKI will cover a wide range of regions such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Ocean Veil will operate within the United States and Canada, while ADN will handle European territories. The It’s Anime YouTube channel will stream the series globally, although some areas may face restrictions.
The story follows Meiko Morita, a high school student from Akita who is unexpectedly chosen as a transfer student to the prestigious Amamiya Girls’ Academy in Tokyo.
Her relocation marks the beginning of a new chapter, but her expectations are quickly challenged when she learns that her accommodation is far from typical. Instead of a standard dormitory, she moves into a manga café named “Hedgehog,” which also serves as a shared living space.
Living in a compact one-tatami room and taking on responsibilities at the café as part of her daily routine, Meiko gradually adjusts to her surroundings.
Her new life is shaped by the presence of eccentric fellow residents, creating a relaxed yet unconventional atmosphere that drives the series’ charm. The narrative blends everyday experiences with light comedy, presenting a calm and character-focused depiction of life in Tokyo.
The anime is adapted from the original work by Kumako Hisama, serialized in Manga Time Kirara and published by Houbunsha. The project is directed by Toshinori Watanabe, with character design by Fumiya Uehara, who also contributes as a chief animation director alongside Minefumi Harada, Yuki Yabuta, and Saori Sakiguchi.
The production team also includes Shino Tanaka, who handles art direction, Harumi Nakazato and Maika Hosoda as art directors, and Yayoi Tateishi as sound director. Music is composed by MONACA, while animation production is managed by PRA.
With its focus on a cozy setting, character-driven storytelling, and a unique manga café dormitory premise, Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi! is positioned as a notable addition to the upcoming anime season.
