If you’re a fan of thrilling and suspenseful anime movies, you’re in for a treat. The highly anticipated film adaptation of Factory Otomate’s game, CollarxMalice, just dropped the official trailer, and let us tell you, it looks fantastic! The announcement created a lot of excitement, and now the trailer only adds to the hype.
The two-part animated film will release on May 26, with part 2 following on June 23. The trailer gives us a teaser for the film’s flawless animation and suspense-filled scenes, making sure it finds a place for itself in the top charts. It was first announced in September of last year, and its international platform release is yet to be revealed.
The visual novel was initially released in Japan in 2016 by Otomate. The game was subsequently released in English by Aksys Games in 2017. A special edition of a fan disc was put out as well, which included an interlude, a sequel, and three side quests. CollarxMalice: Everything We Know
The film is animated by Studio DEEN, and the character designs by Mai Hanamura and Avex Pictures will be in charge of the distribution. Studio DEEN is well-known for adapting visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night and Higurashi When They Cry, so we know CollarxMalice is in good hands. The film will also feature a theme song, NingenxShikakku, conducted by the Japanese visual kei rock band, Kizu. Sounds pretty epic!
Synopsis of the game
The story is set in the year 20XX. A string of violent events by a group, “Adonis,” regularly take place, collectively known as the X-Day incidents. The city is infamous for its danger, and these incidents only add to its rowdy atmosphere.
The story follows Ichika Hoshino, a dedicated police officer who gets attacked and put on a collar filled with poison. Then, she is tasked with investigating the X-Day incidents with a couple of men from a former police organization. The film is based on the original story and will include an additional event that took place during the investigation of the mysterious crimes.
The film will display a new storyline not written before in any other form of the game’s adaptation.

The cast of the Collar×Malice
The voice cast for the CollarxMalice game is set to make a comeback. Kaede Hondo will be voicing the protagonist, Ichika Hoshino, who was unvoiced in the game. Masakazu Morita will be voicing Aiji Yanagi, Yuuki Kaji voicing Kei Okazaki, and Soma Saito voicing Mineo Enomoto. To complete the cast, we have, Daisuke Namikawa voicing Takeru Sasazuka and, finally, Ryohei Kimura voicing Kageyuki Shiraishi.
There will be a new character named Mitsuru Sowa in the upcoming films, designed by Mai Hanumara. He will be voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi, best known for his voice acting as Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer, and some hardcore fans can recognize him as Jonathan Joestar from JoJo Phantom Blood movie. We are excited to see what role he plays in the films!
