Classroom of the Elite has confirmed its fourth season, which will take viewers into Kiyotaka Ayanokoji’s second year at the Advanced Nurturing High School.
The third season, which ended earlier this year, wrapped up his first-year storyline. Now, Ayanokoji will encounter new obstacles and meet fresh faces in the upcoming season.
The anime, produced by Studio Lerche since its 2017 debut, initially deviated from the original light novel, but the later seasons have stayed more faithful to the source material.
Although the third season was delayed to early 2024, it set the stage for the challenges ahead. The anime is based on the light novel series by Shogo Kinugasa, with artwork by Tomose Shunsaku.
The first part of the story, referred to as Year 1, was serialized between 2015 and 2019, culminating in 14 volumes. The follow-up series, Year 2, began in 2020 and continues to be published.
Both arcs have manga adaptations, each with a different artist bringing the story to life. The upcoming fourth season will focus on Ayanokoji as he handles the intense competition at his school, facing new exams and hurdles alongside his classmates.
As Ayanokoji and his peers enter their second year, they immediately face a tough exam that teams them up with first-year students.
The stakes are high, as only the second-year students risk expulsion if their teams fail. To add to the tension, a new student from Ayanokoji’s past, connected to the mysterious White Room, emerges.
The season will explores how Ayanokoji handles these new challenges while trying to maintain his standing and uncover the identity of this mysterious newcomer.
