City Of Arrogance Chapter 12 will be the latest installment in the History Drama Manhwa. The story follows the life of the daughter of a Maquees who was charged with defeating the barbarians that ran rampant around the Empire’s borders.
A task that was given to him purely out of spite because of his prior achievements. Like a good soldier, he took on this impossible task and went to work. The fight continued long after his demise, claiming his children’s lives, leaving his daughter, our protagonist, the only heir.
After 28 years and countless deaths, Marquee Pervaz finally won the war against the Loyer Tribe. Almost three decades of war had left Pervaz famished. According to the contract made with the Emperor, Marquee Pervaz was supposed to receive a reward as well as compensation for winning the war.
However, The cunning Emperor Kendrick Evaristo had other plans. Seeing that it was Asha who inherited her Father’s title, the Emperor decided to give her full autonomy over whom she chose to marry.
Asha was deeply insulted by the Emperor’s brazen display of disdain. Little did he know his decision was going to come back to bite him in the ass. The person she chose as her husband was Carlile Kendrick Ibelia Fondel Ivaristo, the crown prince of the Chadian Empire.
However, she did offer an alternative. If the Emperor gives her the compensation she deserves for winning the war, she will change her decision. Imagine her surprise when Prince Carlile accepted her proposal to marry.
After meeting with Prince Carlile, she realized that their marriage would be one purely of business. Carlile will give Pervaz all the financial support it needs to rebuild, and in exchange, they should leave him to his own devices for three years. It turns out the current Empress, Beatris, has it out for Prince Carlile.
She tricked him into entering the room of his father’s royal concubine. As a result, he was removed as heir for three years. Carlile needs someplace outside of the Empress’s power, and since Pervaz is outside the Empire, the Imperial Family has no power there. Asha drew up a contract that was beneficial to both parties, and they were married within the week.

The long winter has passed, and summer is finally here at Pervaz. Carlile has moved in with Asha and is living their separate lives. Asha is running Pervaz while Carlile is working with Lionel to ammas power for his return to the Capital. However, a trivial new issue has arisen.
Carlile brought several servants from the capital along with him to Pervaz. The servants from the capital ridicule and belittle the servants from Pervaz because of their difference in status. It has become increasingly difficult for them to do their jobs. Asha intervened and brought it to the attention of Carlile.
As per the contract, the people of Pervaz must be treated with utmost respect, and Asha is willing to break the contract if the issue has not been resolved. Carlile asks Lionel to gather all the servants from the Capital. He addressed the issues in front of them and issued strict punishment as well.
But Ashs intervened again and gave them a second chance, all the while reminding them that there wouldn’t be a third. Toward the end of the chapter, we saw a mysterious dark cloud slowly creeping up towards Pervaz. The Farmers were the first to notice, and one of the old-timers there recognized it as a sign of an incoming barbarian raid.

Looks like the peace Pervaz enjoyed for a short while is coming to an end. They were happy about finally being able to farm on their lands and were waiting excitedly for their harvest.
The Barbarians could not have chosen a worse time to attack. Between the likes of Asha and Carlile, this raid should be a piece of cake. Both of them have been thrust into the middle of war quite early and are battle-ready. The timing is very suspicious, though.
