After so much trouble and hard work, Woohyun and Mujin find out that the treasure map was made by, Samtae. Samtae told them that he had made that treasure map to trick people, but he did not expect that the one who got fooled by his map was Woohyun.

The chapter contained a lot of comedy scenes and a bit of a wholesome moment of Somi. It seems like we will see Somi learning martial arts in the upcoming chapters because, in chapter 53, she saw her friend getting scared of people around him, so she decided o learn martial arts to protect her friend. Samtae is now in trouble for tricking Woohyun and Mujin, and in the next chapter, we will see him getting beaten by Woohyun.

Chronicles of The Martial God’s Return Chapter 53 Recap

The chapter starts with Dan Woohyun questioning Jaegal Yeon and Jaegal Woon. Woohyun asked them if they knew where Geum Wangsu was. They did not know about Geum, so Woohyun and Mujin left in disappointment. Yeon told Woon that Mujin was the little twin dagger. The little twin dagger, Kwon Mujin, was no longer an unorthodox martial artist because he was known to be dead back then. Woon told her they needed to join the Namgoong clan quickly to find out what was happening.

Later we see Somi and her friend at a festival. Somi was having fun at the festival, as she even got to eat her favorite squid. However, her friend wanted to go back home, as she saw many scary people on the streets, and hearing that reminded Somi of her conversation with Grandpa. Chun (grandpa) asked her why she hated martial arts and told Somi it would be good for her if she learned it.

Somi told Grandpa that she hates fighting. Grandpa told her she does not have to learn martial arts just for fighting, as it could be used for training her mind or making her body healthy. He told her if there came a time when Somi needed to protect something important to her, it would be helpful. So seeing her friend getting sacred of people around him, she thought to learn a martial art.

Later when Somi was at her home, Woohyun arrived from his trip. Woohyun told Somi that he was angry that he did not find Geum Wangsu, but after seeing her, it got all washed off. Namgoong Chun overheard it, so he asked Woohyun what caused him to be angry. Woohyun told Chun he did not want to talk about that. Mujin also told him not to ask about it.

While they were talking, Jang Samtae arrived there. He saw a map in Woohyun’s hand, so Samtae asked him where he got that from. Woohyun asked Samtae if he knew what that map was about. Samtae told him he was the one who made it to trick people. He laughed while saying that, but suddenly he realized why the map was with Woohyun. He ran from there when he realized that the one who got fooled by the map was Woohyun.
