Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed China’s stance during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Wang praised Iran’s commitment to refrain from targeting neighboring nations and emphasized China’s strong condemnation of the embassy attack, deeming it unacceptable.
Amir-Abdollahian assured Wang that Iran is cognizant of the regional tensions and is committed to exercising restraint to prevent further escalation.
This dialogue comes amidst heightened tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s vow to respond to Iran’s actions, prompting calls for restraint from various countries.
Wang discussed regional stability with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. China expressed its willingness to collaborate with Riyadh to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
Al Saud expressed high expectations for China’s involvement in promoting an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s trust in China’s role.
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has exacerbated tensions between Israel and Iran-aligned groups across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its full trust in China and expressed readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation for sustainable development.
