Haneul and Mincheol’s relationship is complicated further in the coming pages of Childhood Friend Complex Chapter 20. The two have now cross lines and no longer know how they are supposed to act around each other. It also doesn’t help that the two are stubborn and wouldn’t come clean with what is going on in their heads, hence the rising complications.
The childhood friends turning into lovers isn’t a new type of romance, but it is one of the well recieved when done right. It holds true in the case of these two, as their chemistry uplifts the inner conflict they suffer due to it. However, it seems that Micheol suffers from it much more than his childhood friend in the last chapter anyway.
The two had gotten out of Karaoke to get some ice cream and fresh air, but Haneul was drunk. She wrapped herself around him without giving a second thought, and the male lead reciprocated her embrace. The two were at it until Haneul got more curious, but Mincheol decided to draw the line between them then and there.
Mincheol told Haneul how meek she gets after a drink and that she shouldn’t get drunk so as to not create trouble for herself. The drunk female lead agreed, and the two had a short departure, with Mancheol carrying Haneul back home later. The two conversed about the events of the previous night as if nothing had happened, but both of them were getting frustrated by the cold response from the other.
