Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Look Back,” a one-shot from the creator of “Chainsaw Man,” is getting the big-screen treatment, and fans have just learned the movie’s runtime.
After ending “Chainsaw Man,” Fujimoto looked at various ideas through one-shot stories in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, and “Look Back” stood out, earning its own anime adaptation set to premiere in Japanese theaters this summer.
The upcoming film adapts Fujimoto’s original one-shot into a feature-length production despite the story’s concise length in the magazine. With over double the pages of a typical Shonen Jump chapter, fans were curious about the movie’s duration.
According to the official website, “Look Back” will run for one hour and two minutes, offering audiences a substantial viewing experience.
Scheduled for release in Japan on June 28th, the film’s international premiere will take place during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 15th.
Directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama and featuring music by Haruka Nakamura, the movie showcases an original story by Fujimoto with character designs by Oshiyama. Yumi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida headline the cast as the main characters Fujino and Kyomoto.
Originally published by Shueisha in 2021, “Look Back” has been licensed for an English release by Viz Media. The manga follows the unlikely bond between Fujino and Kyomoto, two girls from different backgrounds united by their passion for manga.
Viz Media describes it as “a poignant story of growing up and moving forward,” crafted by the acclaimed creator of “Chainsaw Man.”
