CBS New York is in a state of mourning after the unexpected death of meteorologist Elise Finch. At the age of 51, the journalist passed away, and the official cause of her death has not been disclosed as of the time. Elise Finch was described by the television station as a highly talented and dedicated professional who approached her work with great care. She was widely regarded as an exceptional representative of the community, especially in Mount Vernon, her hometown.
The television described her as “a gifted and consummate professional.” WCBC station on Channel 2 made an announcement on Sunday evening confirming the passing of Elise Finch. According to the report, she passed away in a local hospital.

The announcement wrote, “Elise has been a friend and team member at WCBS for 16 years. She first joined the team in 2007 as our weekend meteorologist and was most recently on the morning news with Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge. In September, Elise joined Cindy Hsu on the 9 am newscast.”

Describing the great personality of Elise, the news house wrote, “Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work. She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon. Above all, Elise was a fierce, loving, and devoted mother.”
According to CBS News, Elise was married to Graig Henriques, a photojournalist at WCBS. Together, they shared the joy of parenthood and were blessed with a daughter named Grace.
Sports Director Otis Livingston from CBS2 shared his feeling that he was “devastated” to hear about his friend’s death. CBS2 sportscaster Steve Overmyer paid tribute to his dear friend Elise Finch, referring to her as “amazing.” He described her as to be “epitome of grace and kindness.”
Elise Finch’s Early Life and Career
Elise Finch, an accomplished meteorologist and recipient of Emmy wards, became a member of the CBS New York weather team in April 2007. Prior to joining CBS, she had previously worked as a meteorologist for NBC, including appearances on the “Early Today Show,” MSNBC, and NBC Weather Plus.
Before joining NBC, Finch held the position of weekend weather anchor at the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to that, she gained experience as an anchor and reporter for CBS and FOX affiliates in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as the ABC affiliate in Austin, Minnesota.
Elise Finch started her television career at E! Entertainment Television, where she worked as a production coordinator for special initiatives and live events, initially focusing on behind-the-scenes work.

She attended Mount Vernon High School and was brought up in Mount Vernon, New York. Finch pursued higher education at Georgetown University, where she was awarded one of the prestigious President’s Awards and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Subsequently, she obtained a Master of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. Additionally, she completed the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University and received endorsement from the American Meteorological Society.
Finch actively engaged in various neighboring events and has served as a host for several organizations. Some of the events she has hosted include those for the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Mount Vernon High School Hall of Fame, the Westchester Library System, and the JDRF Walk for a Cure.
Both the American Meteorological Society and the National Association of Black Journalists acknowledge Elise Finch as a member, recognizing her contributions and expertise in the respective fields. Additionally, she is a resident of Westchester County, further connecting her to the local community.
