Plot
Captivating the King opened up in the Joseom Era when the Qing dynasty had its control over the state. Lee In is the prince and his older brother King Lee Sun is the ruler. The relationship between the both was very likeable and Lee In would always respect his brother’s order.
For the sake of his brother, Lee In bowed his head and was taken hostage by the Qing Dynasty. Being a stranger and alone, Lee In had no choice but to play Baduk to kill time. This is the time when he meets an unknown Baduk player who fascinates Lee In with his intelligent way of playing the game.
The person in disguise as an unknown man Kang Moo Wo is none other than Kang Hee Soo, who intentionally disguised herself and approached Lee In. Her only goal of getting close to the prince was to take revenge on behalf of her father. She impresses Lee In in their first meeting with his moves in the Baduk match.
Lee In starts spending more and more time with Kang Moo Woo, declaring him as one of his closest friends. Meanwhile, Kang Moo Woo disguised by Hee-Soo also falls in love with Prince without even realising that she is here to take her revenge.
Whereas, with the return of Lee-In to his town, due to unavoidable circumstances he will be announced as the new king. Due to this Lee In would have a bitter relationship with his older brother or ex-king Yi Seon. This made Lee In very sad and depressed.
With the downfall in his life and being surrounded by only bloodhounds and mean people, Lee In found solace in his new friend Moo Woo. However, what will be his reaction when he learns that his so-called close friend is a spy?
