In the upcoming Marvel movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson (formerly known as Falcon), takes on the mantle of Captain America after receiving the iconic shield from Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans).
This follows Steve Rogers’ retirement in “Avengers: Endgame,” where he passes on the shield and legacy to Sam Wilson, who vows to uphold the hero’s legacy.
In the new trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is approached by U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who proposes making him a U.S. agent.
The action intensifies as Sam thwarts an assassination attempt at the White House. The trailer concludes with a glimpse of Red Hulk, the gamma-irradiated alter-ego of “Thunderbolt” Ross from Marvel comics.
It’s uncertain if the movie will follow the comic storyline. Previously, Sam suited up as Captain America in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” where he teamed up with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes to combat terrorists, earning praise and five Emmy nominations.
“Captain America: Brave New World” marks Anthony Mackie’s return to the Marvel universe.
