He has a profession as a caddie at the exclusive Bushwood Country Club. The kid is trying to do so in order to have enough money for college. He caddies for Ty Webb. He is loud with a lot of energy and starts attending the club. He even manages to distract Smails as he goes off, which causes his shot to go badly.
Smails gets so frustrated that he loses his bet and throws his putter, which injures an elderly woman. Danny takes the blame for this in order to gain Smails’ favor. Thus, Smails encourages him to apply for a scholarship. The annual Fourth of July banquet arrives at the Bushwood, and Danny and his girlfriend Maggie work as the waiting staff. Later that day, Danny manages to win the Caddy Day gold tournament as well as the scholarship. This earns him an invitation from Smails to attend the christening ceremony for his boat. This party goes badly after Al Czervik comes along with a bigger boat that sinks Smails’ smaller one. Coming back home, Smails finds Danny and Lacey in one bed. Thinking that his scholarship will be revoked, he gets scared only to find out that Smails wants him to keep the incident a secret. After this incident, there is a lot of chaos in the club when Smails announces that he will never make Al Czervik a member. He counterstrikes by saying that he never wanted to be a member of the club; instead wanted to demolish the place.
