Bully Ray, the WWE Hall of Famer, recently shared surprising details about his appearance at WrestleMania 40. It turns out, his role as a special guest referee was decided just days before the event!
Fans were shocked to see Bully Ray at WrestleMania, especially as a referee in the Philadelphia Street Fight. This last-minute decision added excitement and unpredictability to the show.
Bully Ray actually found this a welcome change. Compared to the high-pressure matches he competed in previously, being a referee was a breeze. He mentioned the stress of past TLC and Four Corners matches, and how refreshing it was to just enjoy the chaos of the Philadelphia Street Fight.
Last Minute Decision, Most Fun Ever!
“This was the most fun I’ve ever had at WrestleMania,” Bully Ray said. He explained how his previous WrestleMania appearances were filled with pressure to perform at a certain level. This time, there were no expectations – just enjoy the ride!
Adding to his enjoyment was his interaction with the wrestlers. Bully Ray incorporated his signature moves and catchphrases, like the “what’s up” headbutt and “get the tables,” into the mix. This made the match more fun for everyone involved, including the audience.
Bully Ray was grateful to WWE for the opportunity. He especially loved that his final walk down the WrestleMania ramp happened in Philadelphia, his and D-Von’s starting city, in front of a massive crowd, and during a stress-free match. This experience left him feeling content with his career path.
