The K-pop sensation, the group that waved K-pop around the whole world- yes, we are talking about BTS. We all have heard at least one of their songs, and we know they are pretty popular, too. But ever wondered how these boys with small dreams and great talent have reached the top?
Disney+ has brought a new documentary series called BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star, which shows the journey of all seven members of BTS and how these seven have struggled and worked hard to reach the place they are in right now.
This documentary series dives into the whole discography of BTS, from how they began their journey on 13th June 2013 with their first album, “2 Cool 4 Skool,” to the recent album “Proof”—the emotional, hard-working and sweet journey of nine years in this K-pop industry.
The series aired on 20 December 2023 and will continue till 10 January 2024 with the release of a total of 8 episodes. Each episode has a run time of 30 minutes.
The new episode will be released very soon, and this blog will further guide you on where, when, and how you can watch the upcoming episode hassle-free.
Recap
The previous episode of BTS opened up with the title “Adolosence” after the first episode, “The beginning”. This episode was a complete dive into the struggle of all the seven members of the group to come to the top.
Each member opens up with their thoughts and feelings when they realize the number of people looking after them is huge. The BTS, who started with only meme 100 fans, have come to the top where they were holding a concert with over 20,000 people.
But the journey to this top was not easy, and neither their path was easy. When they heard they had booked the Olympic Gymnastic Arena of South Korea for their concert, Jin said, “Oh, we’re finally on top.” The members explain how this is all possible because of the love their fans gave.
They express their love of doing the concerts and how they have been overwhelmed with the love from the army. Then, we see a documentary of BTS holding their first concert, Red Bullet, in 2014.
The first concert was in 2014 with 6000 fans, in 2015 with 4,425 and 4th concert in 2015 total of 13,500 fans and in 2016 the 5th concert with a total of 25,000 fans. Jungkook says in their fifth concert, “I am happy to perform in front of so many Army soldiers,” and breaks down in tears.
It was emotional for the team to see so many fans attending the concert. They started with a little dream of just making good music and being known by people. Then we witness how BTS entered the US market and the global market.
The episode was full of emotions. Army and even normal viewers can feel the pain and the struggle of being a global K-pop artist at that time. They were ignored in the award shows but their music made them reach AMA LA in 2018.
But everything has an end, right? In the next episode of this documentary, viewers can expect how BTS planned to renew their contract again, the difficulty they would face after becoming recognised by so many people and the immeasurable pain they had to endure so far.
