The Boston Bruins may be out of the playoffs, but they’re wasting no time planning for next season.
General Manager Don Sweeney acknowledged the team’s shortcomings and vowed to be “aggressive” in the offseason to improve.
Disappointed Boston Eyes Aggressive Offseason
One area of focus will be adding secondary scoring. While re-signing forward Jake DeBrusk is an option, the Bruins may also look outside the organization for a center.
They also need to address the goaltending situation. Sweeney wants to keep both Swayman and Linus Ullmark, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, but salary cap constraints may force a trade.
The Bruins are looking to add some offensive punch and become a faster team as they chase a Stanley Cup next season.
However, some key questions remain. Can they find a way to keep both Swayman and Ullmark? Will they be able to re-sign DeBrusk or find another center through free agency or a trade? The answers to these questions will play a big role in shaping the Bruins’ roster for next season.
