Actor Son Suk Goo has recently founded his own production company, diverging from the prevalent trend of male actors forming individual agencies.
On February 5th, an insider in the advertising industry disclosed that Son opted for a production company instead of a solo agency. He registered his business earlier this year and is gearing up for production endeavors. The company, named Stature Inc., is a joint venture with the former financial director of his previous agency, SBD Entertainment. Situated in Samsung-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, it finalized its business registration on January 2nd.
Son’s establishment of a production company stems from his passion for film and drama content. Engaging with writers and directors since last year, he’s diligently preparing for multiple projects. An insider remarked, “Son Suk Goo’s profound interest extends beyond acting to content creation,” indicating his involvement in production considerations.
After leaving SBD Entertainment last year, Son emerged as a much-anticipated free agent in the entertainment realm. Amid speculation about founding his agency, he chose an agent concept. His management activities are now conducted in an agent-style arrangement, overseen by a manager from his former agency.
A management insider commented, “Having lived abroad for a long time, Son has contemplated management structures and decided that ‘Son Suk Goo’ as a brand is now well-established. Instead of seeking out projects, many are now coming to him. Choosing to work with a trusted manager under an agent contract seems to be a strategic move to continue his active acting career without the pressures of running a solo agency.”
In 2024, Son Suk Goo is set for a bustling year, commencing with the March 9th release of the Netflix original ‘A Killer Paradox.’ He takes the lead alongside Choi Woo-shik and Lee Hee-joon in a narrative revolving around an ordinary man inadvertently turning into a murderer and the relentless detective pursuing him.
